To start
Alt + F4 quits the currently focused application.
Alt + F2 brings up the Application finder.

By default Peppermint 10 uses Light DM as its login screen, it should be a simple matter of typing out your user password and hitting Enter on your keyboard.

Neither of those key combinations have anything to do with logging back into Peppermint. Can you please be more descriptive with your question?

Hi mirome,

Perhaps you refer to when the screen lock takes effect? If the screen lock has been activated then normally all that is required is to enter your password (the same one used at login) and the screen should become unlocked.

I just realized you're using Peppermint 7 which uses i3lock.

Simply type your password and hit enter.

i3lock in Peppermint 7 didn't have a log in prompt which is confusing if you haven't used i3 lock before. The only prompt is the circle while you type in your password.
Here's an example.
