The page has some updated info with it working on Ubuntu 19
http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2019/04/nstall-rtl8723de-wifi-driver-ubuntu-19-04/

I think that is the page I used to install the rtlwifi software.

Whether Peppermint uses ubuntu19 or not, I'm not sure but it is now working. (As mentioned in my previous post.)

The problem seems to be the Secure Boot in the BIOS which was preventing software changes. I'm not sure why it was only affecting that one thing, but poking around in the settings of the BIOS has got the wifi working.

The thing I initially installed was rtlwifi_new-extended. The 'extended' bit wasn't mentioned in various guides, so whether it is updated or Peppermint is updated so it works, I'm not sure - but it works!

I'm glad for you. Peppermint is not based on the 19 series but sometimes fixes span across versions. As you do more and more in linux you will find things easier. I'm glad you didn't give up. Welcome to the New World!

Steve M, so glad to hear your wifi is now working... took me a few days to catch up on the forum.
I have been working almost as many hours as StevesVeryOwn.

I'm just curious, Steve M, was secure boot settings the only settings you changed in bios that enabled things to work?
What was I thinking?
