OK, I'm stumped .. besides your phone using a different wireless channel, the signal strength, and the fact your phone is offering lower speeds connections I can see no difference.

Are you sure you haven't got something like mac address filtering switched on in the router ?

Maybe try changing the routers channel to 11 (or 1 as the phone is offering)

I'm sure I don't have mac address filtering switched on, I just checked. Changing the routers channel to 1 or 11 doesn't do anything new either

OK, I'm outa ideas here

this adapter is one huge pain in Linux .. most people never get it working.

I'll keep looking for a while and post if I find anything useful, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Is that the only wireless adapter you have ?

I have a WiFiMAX adapter, but I only ever used that to connect my nintendo ds with.. can you work that?  :-\

Can you plug it in and post the output from:

and

sudo lshw -C network

If it's what I think it is, it should work out of the box with the zd1211rw driver
