Indeed I'm pretty sure the patched libgme was out before this topic was started

15th I think (at least that's the day it was installed on my system).
No OS is 100% secure, exploits WILL be found, it's all about how they're discovered and dealt with .. Linux has a bigger group of people working on it than ANY other OS, add to that it has tech a savvy user base who report things, and an army of white hat hackers who can study the code looking for vulnerabilities and report them, and then people can easily submit patches (again because of the accessibility of the source code) and Linux is better positioned than other OS's to respond quickly, so far nearly always before an exploit gets used maliciously in the wild.
