Synapse crash in pep 7 (ubuntu 16.04) [SOLVED]
« on: July 25, 2016, 08:51:12 pm »
This is a known problem with the Synapse utility in 16.04, it crash if we try to use it. After research on the web, the command has to be replaced by this : (temporary fix, but working)
bash -c 'GTK_IM_MODULE="" synapse'

How can I replace the command in the menu and to get it to launch with that command at login ?
Tx

Ok found a way. Just modify the synapse command line in /usr/share/applications with that command. That will fix the call by the menu.
To have it start at login, use the menu to make a shortcut on the desktop (right click). Move it to the ~/.config/autostart folder.  To have the application to not display on launch, add the argument "--startup". It's going to be minimize at startup. Do not set the "start at connection" option. That add the usual "wrong" command. Thanks peppermint 6 !  ;D
