Hi,

I'm trying to install Panasonic KX-MB1500 Series All-In-One Printer and Scanner in Peppermint 6. This Model Drivers is not available in Peppermint 6 So I had searched on google and found driver from given links-

http://panasonic.net/pcc/support/fax/common/table/linuxdriver.html

http://www.sane-project.org/cgi-bin/driver.pl?manu=Panasonic&model=KX-MB1500&bus=any&v=&p=

Printer Driver
mccgdi-2.0.8-i686.tar.gz

Scanner Driver
panamfs-scan-1.2.2-i686.tar.gz

I had able to install Printer Driver and printer start working. But When I try to install panamfs-scan-1.2.2 . It gives me error as below:-

Code: [Select]
administrator@MOC034 ~/panamfs-scan-1.2.2-i686 $ sudo ./install-driver
[sudo] password for administrator:
  Cannot find SANE lib path

Scan is not detected  and it is not working. :-\

I try to run some Diagnostic Test which is as below to give you some understanding to my issue.

Code: [Select]
administrator@MOC034 ~ $ sudo scanimage -v -L

No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).

Code: [Select]
administrator@MOC034 ~ $ sudo sane-find-scanner

  # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
  # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
  # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

  # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
  # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

  # No USB scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
  # you have loaded a kernel driver for your USB host controller and have setup
  # the USB system correctly. See man sane-usb for details.

  # Not checking for parallel port scanners.

  # can't be detected by this program.

Description-en: scanner graphical frontends
 This package includes :
o xscanimage, a scanner graphical frontend with GIMP 2.0 support
o scanadf, a command-line frontend for scanners with Automatic Document Feeder
o xcam, for acquiring images continuously from cameras.
 .
An alternative to xscanimage called xsane is packaged separately.
 .
The scanner frontends use SANE.  SANE stands for "Scanner Access Now
Easy" and is an application programming interface (API) that provides
standardized access to any raster image scanner hardware (flatbed
 scanner, hand-held scanner, video- and still-cameras, frame-grabbers,
etc.). The SANE standard is free and its discussion and development are
open to everybody. The current source code is written to support several
operating systems, including GNU/Linux, OS/2, Win32 and various Unices
and is available under the GNU General Public License (commercial
applications and backends are welcome, too, however).

Installed for me no problem (at least the 64bit version did)...

Can you post the output from:
Code: [Select]
uname -a
and
Code: [Select]
dpkg -l | grep sane

Okay it looks like that directory may have been added to my system by hplip .. that said I'm beginning to think it should be at
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/
instead.

do you get any output from:
Code: [Select]
ls /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/
I don't need to know the output, just whether there was any or not.

I suppose I we could create the directory at /usr/lib/sane .. then run the installation script .. then copy everything from that directory to /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/ and see if that'd work.

I did as you suggested that I had create one directory at /user/lib/sane and run the installation script and it's work and it had installed files into the folder and then copy everything from that directory to /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/sane  and tested or copy everything copy to /usr/lib/i386-gne/ and tested. But it is not working. :-\

I take it you've now tried xsane ?

did xsane start up properly, or report it couldn't find a scanner ?

if xsane starts up properly, what happens when you try to scan something ?

what's happens if you run
Code: [Select]
cd ~/Desktop
then
Code: [Select]
scanimage -d panamfs --quick-format Letter --resolution=400 > test.pnm
did it error, or is there now a file on your desktop called test.pnm ?

Hi,

When we run xsane it shows No device found.

Code: [Select]
administrator@MOC034 ~/Desktop $ scanimage d panamfs --quick-format Letter --resolution=400 > test.pnm
scanimage: no SANE devices found
administrator@MOC034 ~/Desktop $

I think driver install but it is not working somehow.  :-\

you forgot the "-" before the "d" in
Code: [Select]
scanimage -d panamfs --quick-format Letter --resolution=400 > test.pnm
may be best to copy/paste commands into the terminal ;)
