Hello fellow Peppermint users, I am here again with some other awesome desktop screenshots, just in time for Halloween, so this theme will be temporary...I couldn't find an icon set with flat purple/violet/magenta folders, so Vibrancy color icon set will do

This was inspired by a track called Violetta by Orjan Nilsen (you can see it playing on one of the screenshots)

Icon set : Vibrancy Colors
GTK theme:  Ambiance Blackout Flat Colors (I chose Purple-Pro)
Window Decoration: Numix
Wallpaper: Gengar (Pokemon) I  was looking for random wallpapers and I liked this one..I thought it would look nice since its almost Halloween

hahaha
Thanks for the mention...
I love this theme, it gives my lightweight OS that lightweight look without it looking too dated...flat and modern
I am also working on decorating my desktop using these themes/icons............something temporary..I will post it later.......name: VIOLETTA

So the tray icons are solved ?

does the network manager tray icon appear if you open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
nm-applet
?

Yes, tray icons(battery..etc.) are back now  except the network indicator icon

I run it and this is the warning/error it gives me

Code: [Select]
** (nm-applet:15330): CRITICAL **: nm_secret_agent_register: assertion 'priv->registered == FALSE' failed
nm-applet-Message: using fallback from indicator to GtkStatusIcon

thank you for your help so far :D

Software & Applications / Re: Removing the title bar in Firefox

I use this Add-On called Hide Caption Titlebar Plus: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hide-caption-titlebar-plus-sma/

after installing it... go to Setting>Extensions click on preferences for this add-on, and customize it to how you would like it to be (albeit limited)

here is a screenshot of mine:

New Users / Re: need advice regarding peppermint 6 or lubuntu
« on: August 29, 2015, 11:41:04 pm »
So a little story why I ended up choosing Peppermint over Lubuntu, and even LXLE.  My younger sister had an Acer aspire one netbook with Windows 7 Starter, the OS took almost 80% of memory in idle, so I began researching distros that were light on RAM, some of the top ones were Lubuntu, LXLE 12.04.4 and Peppermint 4......I ended up installing LXLE on that netbook, but then I noticed how openbox was not visually pleasing, and some themes were not even compatible with it. I had heard that the Peppermint team were a bout to release a new version based on the upcoming (at the time) Ubuntu 14.04, and it was to include the XF4WM, in it... so I was willing to let my sister use LXLE for the time being...until Peppermint was fully released...unfortunately Windows broke the hard drive mechanisms a few day before Peppermint 5 was released  :'(...We still have the little netbook somewhere running Peppermint 5 off an external hard drive :)

But really I was blown away of how little RAM Peppermint 5 uses considering it uses the XF4WM instead of Openbox  :o...LXLE runs at 180 MB on average in idle with openbox, while Peppermint has been running at 150-155 MB idle. LXLE uses an older Ubuntu version as base for their 32-bit version (Ubuntu 12.04) while peppermint 5 uses 14.04... also I tried installing and configuring the XF4WM into both Lubuntu and LXLE, but this made the OS very unstable, so stability was also a big plus for Peppermint 5

My sister had been blown away of how fast was Linux in her little notebook, even running LibreOffice Writer in LXLE was faster than using Abiword in Windows, and till this day Peppermint 5 has that machine running happily.....

So in summary was : newer kernel, more years of support, RAM usage, Stability, and aesthetics in to customizing made Peppermint my distro of choice...it now runs on my old laptop, after running Elemntary OS and Xubuntu before, I am a happy Peppermint user :D

Even my standard installation Peppermint Six desktop idles at about 115 MB;D

:o How in the world? the lowest I have been able to slim-down a standard Peppermint six installation has been 150MB on memory
running around 175MB normally

I can only assume your icon theme doesn't contain any icons for the battery indicator .. so it uses the one from the parent theme

It actually does have, since I have used this theme with other desktop environments, I have seen it do

here they are

I used to use Docky.  Since Peppermint Six, I've been using a developer's version of Plank via a ppa.  It's nice and light.  Plenty feature rich for my requirements and it never gives me any problems.  I have to say, I've become a bit of a Plank fan boy  ;)!!

I like both, but I prefer Plank since it is lighter, sometimes double icons bugs but nothing that can't be easily fixed

I use the version from the PPA, so this is why I have those minor double icon bugs everytime I update plank or any of those apps that are affected by the double icon bug.

Hi XavyAir,

Looks terrific! What are you doing/using to get the vertical list of icons on the left side of the screen? Is that a dock of some sort? Or an additional panel?

Sorry, but I don't think that I can help you concerning the panel icons in the system tray. Maybe someone else??  :-\

Regards,

-- Slim

Yes, I am am using the dock called Plank should be easy to install
