it did get better, but if, it could be more less sensitive, because when you are in the flow of writing then suddenly it does happen that the cursor jumps

Software & Applications / pinta keeps craching
« on: March 23, 2019, 11:27:01 am »
Hello All
until now i am very satisfied with peppermint 9, but one thing i still don't have a solution
on windows i used photofilter free for simple adjustments.
like size, and putting some text onto it.
gimp is to much, and pinta seemed perfect, but it starts up, can load a picture but when i choose , for example, the text icoon, the program craches.

maybe someone can point me to a program like pinta that will work with peppermint, that would be a option to
hope someone has a solution

Code: [Select]
sudo update-ca-certificates

gave me this

Running hooks in /etc/ca-certificates/update.d...

done.
Updating Mono key store
Linux Cert Store Sync - version 4.6.2.0

Software & Applications / outlook mail certificate problem
« on: February 04, 2019, 04:24:14 am »
when peppermint showed there were updates i let it update but after a reboot thunderbird mail and firefox had problems.
thunderbird gave a message that the certificate from outlook was outdated and if i would overwrite the settings.
at that time, i wanted to look on internet what this was, i could not establish a connection .
i did a search, that went well, but when i clickt on a website the connection was block t.

after i agreed with the overwriting settings all was normal again.

from the 3 peppermint machines there was only 1 with this problem after the recent updates
(all use thunderbird mail and firefox, all are peppermint 9 64 bits)

did i do something wrong with accepting the overwrite?

Hello All.
today i had a kind of BSOD in my mind.
one off my dual boot with win10 and in this case Ubuntu gave me a grub problem after the 1809 update from windows.

tried to boot with a other lightweight distro and found out that the Linux partition had no label than empty unused space.
bugger  :o
i was planning to remove the ubuntu for a peppermint 9, but not now.
so the pc is installing peppermint 9 right now, but this makes me wonder, is there a rescue cd/usb option somewhere in peppermint?
ore what do you use to be ready for these kinds of problems?
i have another pc that will have the win10 update to, again with dual boot and in this case peppermint.

so what can i do to make sure that when win10 messes the system up i can recover from that?

Hardware / Re: usb mouse selects without touching select button

well, the problem is almost gone.
made my laptop from dual boot to a full peppermint machine with a complete new install and that seems to have solved it, but i will keep you posted when it would start again

Hardware / usb mouse selects without touching select button
« on: November 28, 2018, 05:21:13 am »
my dell 6320 has only 1 usb port.
when i work with the mouse sometime it selects everything the mouse pointer goes over without touching the left mousebutton.
clicking will not stop it, only touching the touchpad ore clicking with the left touchpad button

i suspect somekind of irq problem with the usb and touchpad, but i can't put the mouse in a other usb port.
i have to find and try another mouse, but maybe someone recognizes this?

@pin
i don't know if you know win10 but that is a disaster and sure from the 1803 and up version.

what i meant is that the system did not warn for the lack off hd space it needed for the update.
i need my laptop on daily basis so have to find time to make it a total peppermint machine.
 :)

don't get me wrong, but i would love a Linux version with the look and feel off windows XP ore 7.
their are a lot of people that would change because they grew up with that, and made a pc to work for them (except the BSOD off course  :'( )

am a distro hopper as well but no distro could hold as long as peppermint at this moment.
but sometimes you get a bit disappointing like when software form the  software manager app does not work.
wanted to us a simple graphic program like pinta.
starts up and when using it it crashes.
i know their is this forum that will help, but it is sad that these things occur and dent the trust you have in a distro

just like that i had to update, restart and came in some kind of boot loop to the login screen again and again
i later found out that i had not enough space on the hd to go to the updating process.
i did not got a popup that it needed more space before the updates.

so these things can back off potential Linux users and thats a shame.

thank you, that was the winning answer  ;D
at first i did not understand all the different themes, like blue dark, blue mix etc. but that i could see the differences.
(using peppermint-blue-mix now)

14
i tried some
peppermint-xfwm4
xfwm4-fallback
green-dark
green-mix
blue-light
but all the fonts under the documents and maps /files stay black

15
i have the same problem with the color of the text under the icons on the desktop.
what theme will give me white fonts?
i got a little lost in the Gtk3 story, i am sorry   :'(
