Title: Peppermint 9 drops to BusyBox after installation
Post by: rustywrench on June 22, 2018, 09:44:46 pm
I have found what I believe to be a bug in Peppermint 9. It drops to busybox on first boot after install. it is inserting the usb media as root into /etc/default grub. Once this is commented out it will boot perfectly. I am just not sure how to report this bug.

You used a multiboot USB stick? Maybe not surprising then. Try installing from a stick that's solely Peppermint.

Hi rustywrench and welcome to the forum :)

It's not Pepermint that's inserting this boot stanza:-
Code: [Select]
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="ignore_bootid live-media-path=/multibootusb/Peppermint-9-20180621-amd64/casper floppy.allowed_drive_mask=0 ignore_uuid root=UUID=3BF3-F239"
that would be whatever application you used to create the multiboot USB stick.

What did you use to create the LiveUSB ?

I've been using multibootusb for several years and I have other ubuntu 18.04 based distros on the stick that don't have this issue. I also haven't experienced this with peppermint 7 or 8.  That is why I reported it on this forum. I just wanted to make sure this wasn't an issue that would affect anyone else. I know that peppermint is a great beginner distro and I didn't want anyone to have a "bad" experience if you will with their first try at Linux. I'll make another stick with DD that only has peppermint 9 and report my findings later today.
