Title: Introductions
Post by: emegra on June 23, 2014, 05:11:22 am
Hi guys

Just a thought but would it be a good idea to add an Introductions thread, for new members to introduce themselves, I mention this as today a new member introduced himself on an old thread because he didn't know where else to post

Just a thought

I think it is a very good idea, Graeme, it points newcomers immediately in the right direction. It is a means used by other forums to also "weed out" unwanted posters. :)

So where do you think the topic should go ?

New users > Please introduce yourself
or
General discussion > Please introduce yourself
or both (one could be a link to the other)?

Should it be set sticky .. so it's always at the top ?

I'm open to suggestions but my own view would be "New users > Please introduce yourself" and make it a sticky

IMO...

General > Community (new) > The Obligatory Members' Introductions Thread (stickified)

I don't want to start a whole new "Community" forum on the front page .. if you ask me, there's too many as it is.

But I could change, say the "General Discussion" forum description to say:-

General Discussion
Please introduce yourself, and feel free to talk about anything and everything in this board. Remember to keep it clean
.

then have a sub-topic
The Obligatory Members' Introductions Thread
(stickified)

Sounds good to me :)
