Title: Peppermint6 Malformed File? [Unresolved Bug]
Post by: momist on July 04, 2015, 03:57:43 pm
Hi everyone,
I've just installed Peppermint 6 as a clean install on my Dell Latitude D630.  All went well, then after booting into the new system, it offered me a bunch of updates including the new kernel 3.16.0-41
After it had finished, I rebooted, and just to make sure I did sudo update-grub.
I now get the following notice on every boot
Code: [Select]
 error: malformed file
press any key to continue
If I leave this to time out, it boots normally anyway, or it will do if I press a key.
Any ideas what's going on here please?  Thanks.

Hi momist, this is a known GRUB2 bug.  There doesn't appear to be a workaround yet: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1311247 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1311247).  Someone may have seen something else that may help - good luck  ;).

Thanks AndyInMokum, if it's a known bug that's good enough for me, I'll just ignore it. 8)
