Can you run:
Code: [Select]
dmesg > ~/Desktop/dmesg.txt
you'll then find a file called dmesg.txt on your desktop .. can you host that file online somewhere like
http://tinyupload.com/
and post a link to it back here

One of my favorite parts is the little egg men they are so brilliant at capturing what people are feeling. Reminds me of a old ZX Spectrum game and for the life of me ah, love it when my brain does this and immediately comes up with the answer.

The smileys ARE based on Dizzy, in fact the SMF smiley icon pack is called 'Dizzy Smileys'

Do you get offered the GRUB boot menu at system bootup (ie. just after the BIOS POST screen) ?

If not, does the GRUB menu appear if you hit the Shift key immediately after the BIOS POST screen ?

Once at the GRUB menu, scroll down and select "Advanced", then hit enter.

Now scroll to the linux-image-4.15.0-23-generic boot option, and hit enter to boot it.

Does that kernel ?

Well as they're killing off all the 32bit software packages I guess that kills off Peppermint 32bit ISO's (beyond PM10) :(

MX (via Debian) are likely to be getting a few more users soon .. they'll be one of the few left with 32bit ISO's

Yeah that was a pretty good review, thanks for pointing it out :)

BTW, it can be read in English via Google Translate

If it's always:-

Something wicked happened resolving 'ppa.launchpad.net

I doubt if changing the mirrors will help.

Whilst it could theoretically be at the launchpad end, if it were I'd expect everyone using a PPA would be seeing this .. and I'm not, I'd wonder more if it were some slowness/weirdness in my DNS setup.

No it won't change the home folder (or anything else).

When booting the PC, as soon as the BIOS POST screen disappears hit the Shift key to display the GRUB menu .. at the GRUB menu, move down to "Advanced" and hit enter .. then move down to the 4.18 kernel and hit enter to boot it.

Once booted, you can check which kernel you booted into with
Code: [Select]
uname -a
if that reports you're in the 4.18 kernel ... check to see if it freezes.

Then again, if it's stopped freezing, maybe you just got a new kernel update that fixed things.

Can you post the output from
Code: [Select]
lsmod
and
Code: [Select]
hcitool dev

[EDIT]

Can you also post the output from:
Code: [Select]
dpkg -l | grep linux-image

This link is for my future reference
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1050304/bluetooth-is-not-working-ubuntu-18-04-lts
which suggests to try kernels <= 4.15.0-32
(as this is PM9, it might also be worth trying the 5.0.0 kernel from the HWE)

41
Are you running any kind of antivirus software ?

Also (from your inxi output):-
Code: [Select]
           ID-2: /boot size: 705M used: 682M (100%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/sda2
suggests you've run out of space on your /boot partition .. so there will be no more room for initramfs-tools to create the new initramfs for the new kernels .. which is highly likely why the post-installation script is failing.
(this is why I generally don't use a separate small /boot partition .. it forces you to stay on top of manually removing old kernels)

Can you post the output from:
Code: [Select]
dpkg -l | grep 4.15.0
so we can see which kernels you have installed, then we can remove some of the older ones.

Yeah, but have you tried booting into an earlier kernel to check if it stops freezing .. so we know for sure it's the kernel ?

Do you know how to boot an earlier kernel ?

Which kernels do you currently have installed .. can you post the output from:
Code: [Select]
uname -a
and
Code: [Select]
dpkg -l | grep linux-image

What the heck is "Zhen-Xjell" anyway ?

Google Translate suggests it's:-

Zhen-Xjell  =  Z very-X jell
or
Zhen Xjell  =  Z is very X jell
or
zhen xjell  =  Real jell
or
zhen-xjell  =  Really - bad mood

Capitalisation seem to make a big difference in Chinese :-\

Do you get any output from
Code: [Select]
hciconfig
and
Code: [Select]
hciconfig -a hci0
and
Code: [Select]
hcitool scan
