It's not a good idea to use the Win (aka. Super_L and Mod4) key on it's own as it's in use for other keyboard shortcuts

namely:-

Mod4+e = Open the PCManFM file manager

Mod4+r = the "Run" dialog

Yeah we've decided it's better to keep everything all together on the forum with this one .. but use spoiler tags to hide long text until someone clicks the spoiler bar to keep things neat

Transparency of windows that are NOT in focus is a "feature" of Peppermint 4 .. you can disable it if you prefer by going to

menu > Preferences > Window Manager Tweaks > Compositor (tab)

then adjusting the "Opacity" slideer for "Inactive Windows"

As for Chromium, either maximise the window .. should remember that after closing/reopening Chromium

or

Position the Chrome Window to top left, then drag the bottom right corner of the window till it fills the screen .. again, closing reopening should cause it to "remember" the window size.

If neither of these work, we can change the command for opening chromium to include the

--start-maximized

option, which will force Chromium to always start maximised .. if you need help with this, just ask :)

Open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
when the file opens, scroll to the bottom and change the LAST line from:-
Code: [Select]
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring-security multiverse universe main restricted
to
Code: [Select]
# deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring-security multiverse universe main restricted
SAVE the file, and close gedit.

Back in the terminal, run:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update
have the errors disappeared ?

BTW, there's no longer a need to use pastebin for long output .. in fact doing so is a pain for both you, and anyone following the topic ;)

just use the "spoiler" tags to surround long output.

Do you mean the whole Chromium browser window is small, or just the contents ?

Do you want instructions for removing Chrome and fixing the flashplayer in Chromium ?

No you haven't installed it twice .. the top line tells you which of the 2 underneath is set as the AUTOMATIC option .. ie. the one that will be used if you don't manually specify one.

It's already set to Chrome.

OK you have 2 options here (if you want to still be able to use Ice for creating web shortcuts)

a) ditch Chrome and fix the flashplayer in Chromium
or
b) ditch Chromium and install my edited version of Ice (ice-chrome) that makes web shortcuts for Chrome instead of Chromium .. this will entail removing all currently installed Ice SSB shortcuts and recreating them in ice-chrome.
(not a huge job, but one I thought I'd better mention)

So which road do you want to take ?

19600
OK, if that works, open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
sudo gedit /etc/xdg/lxsession/Peppermint/autostart
when a text document with a few lines already in it opens, add a single NEW line at the bottom that reads:-
Code: [Select]
@setxkbmap -option grp:lalt_lshift_toggle "gb,mk"
SAVE the file, and exit gedit.

Now reboot to test it still works after the reboot without you having to run anything in a terminal.

[EDIT]

Once that's working, let us know if you'd like to add the Keyboard Layout Handler panel applet .. that will give you a little flag by your clock telling you which layout is currently active.

Sure you can .. most things can be done through the GUI, it's just easier to post how through the command line ;)

You can't copy/paste GUI instructions ;)

Besides which, none of this is really "coding"

19604
I'm not even sure where you guys are trying to change the settings.

Either follow my instructions above, or just add the Keyboard Layout Handler panel applet, and set it to do the same.

Even if you use my original instructions, you'll probably still want to add the Keyboard Layout Handler panel applet, so you have an indicator of which layout you're currently using.

Why not get Chromium to use Chrome's pepperflash.:
http://peppermintos.net/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=6176

You do realise that web shortcuts created with Ice will NOT open in Chrome ?

FYI...

To get firefox 100% recognised as the default I had to

a) change it in menu > Preferences > Preferred applications

b) change it in "update-alternatives" for the gnome-www-browser alternative

c) change it in "update-alternatives" for the x-www-browser alternative

d) add these lines in ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list

[Added Associations]
x-scheme-handler/http=firefox.desktop;chromium-browser.desktop;google-chrome.desktop;
text/html=firefox.desktop;
video/x-flv=firefox.desktop;chromium-browser.desktop;google-chrome.desktop;
application/x-php=firefox.desktop;chromium-browser.desktop;google-chrome.desktop;

[Default Applications]
x-scheme-handler/http=firefox.desktop
text/html=firefox.desktop

By far the easiest method would be to just get Chromium to use Pepperflash instead of the Adobe version .. then you pretty much have Chrome anyway ;)
