Can you post the contents of:
Code: [Select]
gedit /etc/xdg/peppermint/menus/lxde-applications.menu
when posting the output from that command in this forum, please surround the output with "code" tags .. to preserve formatting.

and the output from:
Code: [Select]
tree ~/.config/menus

I don't know what you're moving it from .. or how you're "moving" it ?

I'm going to assume you're moving the hidden ~/.Skype directory from another distro ?

if that's the case, your other distro probably had pulseaudio installed .. so install pulseaudio in Peppermint:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install pulseaudio pulseaudio-utils pavucontrol
now see if audio works in Skype.

Hi jack-1948, and welcome to the forum :)

Peppermint 5 (due out soon) will be based on a long term support release, as was Peppermint 3 .. so if you're looking to install right now, you might want to wait.

If you've already installed Peppermint 4, it'll be fine until five is released .. but you might not want to spend too much time tweaking it as you'll have to do a fresh install of 5 over the top.

Well if Lubuntu 14.04 works, you'll probably be OK with Peppermint 5 when it's released .. which should be very soon now :)

It can be done (or so I'm told) :)

See here:
http://pipelight.net/cms/install/installation-ubuntu.html
(follow the instructions for Ubuntu)

If you need help with that .. just ask :)

[EDIT]

You'll also probably want to use Firefox instead of Chromium.

I'm fairly sure the D600 comes with either a Pentium M or a Celeron M processor.

Some of the "M" processors do support PAE, but they don't "report" that they do .. and Peppermint 3 was the last version of Peppermint to have a non-PAE kernel.

Ubuntu decided in their wisdom ::)  to drop support for non-PAE kernels after Ubuntu 12.04 (which Peppermint 3 is based on)

2 deaths at the TT so far this year.... not being morbid, just making a comparison between the dangers of road racing Vs short circuit racing (such as GP).

Bob price on Mondays Supersport race
and
Karl Harris in todays (Tuesday) Superstock race

Didn't I say these guys are either 24 carat loonies, or immensely brave.

The IOM mountain circuit has always been one of the most dangerous courses in the world .. the reason  most GP girlies won't ride it.

New Users / Re: Apport Requests Password
« on: June 03, 2014, 02:27:09 pm »
You;re NOT sharing your password with Ubuntu at all.

You're just allowing a local copy of apport to gather system info and generate a crash report with elevated privileges .. that bug report is then sent to Ubuntu, but it doesn't contain your password.

Quote from: apport package
apport automatically collects data from crashed processes and compiles a
problem report in /var/crash/. This utilizes the crashdump helper hook
provided by the Ubuntu kernel

[EDIT]

If you don't want it .. you can always uninstall apport.

Seriously .. I'd just go back to Lubuntu (alternative install).

Peppermint don't do a text install version .. or wait for Peppermint five.

Have you tried a Lubuntu 14.04 (standard desktop edition - NOT Alternative install) .. if that'll install, so will Peppermint 5 which is due out soon.
