General Discussion / Re: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver.
« on: May 04, 2018, 10:44:47 am »
I installed xubuntu and found a problem with Dropbox.  It will install dropbox using nautilus, but I have been unable to get the preferences/settings to work so I can select which folders to sync.  :-\ It will just sync everything which is not what I want to do.  I have been searching for a solution but have not found anything yet. If you right click on the icon nothing happens.  This appears to be the case across all unbuntu flavors.   :(

Ok. Subscribed. :)

I am using 64 bit Peppermint 8.  I finally got it through my head what you were suggesting, and installed an old Netgear usb wifi adapter which I am using now on the Macbook Air with Peppermint on a live usb with persistence.   :-[

Following is the info you requested:

Code: [Select]
peppermint@peppermint ~ $ sudo lspci -vnn | grep -i net
03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter [14e4:43a0] (rev 03)
Subsystem: Apple Inc. BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter [106b:0117]

Thanks again for all of your help.  :)

I cannot connect to my router at this time as the Macbook Air does NOT have an ethernet port only wifi.  I have to get an adapter that has an ethernet port on one end and a usb on the other end to connect to the Macbook Air.  I'm assuming that would work.

The only way I can connect to my router at this point is to use the MacOS or MX-17.1 with the power cable plugged in.  That's why I gave you the MX info, as it is directly from the operating machine.  I could give the info you request using MX if that helps.  Thanks again for everything.

If it helps you any, the Macbook Air runs and will use wifi on MX-17.1 but only when plugged into power.  This is on a live usb as well.  It will not work on battery only.  It uses the wl driver.  More info below from the system running on MX-17 in case it helps you.  Thank you for all of your help.

At the moment I'm unable to comply since I have no way to connect to the internet.  There is no ethernet connection on this machine and wifi does not work.  I may try to get an ethernet to usb adapter but that will take some time.   :-\   Thanks for trying to help.

I'm trying to run Peppermint 8 respin from a live usb, however, the system does not see any wifi networks at all.  :(  The Macbook Air has a broadcom BCM 4360 wifi adapter.  Is it possible to get a driver to make this wifi adapter operate?  If so, please advise how this is done.  Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: Multiple Logins and Thunderbird
« on: March 04, 2018, 02:21:19 pm »
Hi Perknh,

Not sure what login you mean.  I use Thunderbird all time and once installed you don't have to login at all.  You just have to set up your email accounts and enter the Login ID and Password at time of setup, and after that the login is automatic for the email accounts you have set up.  If you give me a more specific idea of your problem I'll be glad to help further.  Jeff

General Discussion / Re: Printer Driver installed...!

That's great!  :)

On my windows 10 machine FireFox 57 will not print a browser page.  It starts the printer but a blank page comes out.  I don't have a printer hooked to my Peppermint 8 machine so I don't know if it's a windows issue.  I moved back to Firefox 56.02 on my windows machine it prints correctly again.  To me it looks there is a bug in the printing area of version 57 for windows.
