Software & Applications / Re: FireFox and porn Issue

Wow! I had never thought about 123movies not being a legit site, so I went and did my due-diligence. I read where popcornflx is a legitimate movie site, and have now switched my movie watching to that. Thanks for "tweaking me" on to a proper source. I appreciate that!

Software & Applications / Re: Hangouts Audio on Peppermint OS 9

Hi Tony,
I must have missed setting the recording source! Because after doing that I was able to record a message to voicemail and it worked. I will try with my wife when she's up (it's 3:30 am now and she is sleeping!) Thanks.

Software & Applications / FireFox and porn Issue
« on: July 16, 2018, 05:58:57 am »
Hello,
When I use FF and (for example) I have 123movies up and I find a movie I want to watch. When I play the movie FF almost always opens a new tab with either a porn website or porn related material.

How can I stop FF from doing this? I do not want extraneous material displaying when I am trying to open a proper tab.

Software & Applications / Hangouts Audio on Peppermint OS 9
« on: July 16, 2018, 05:54:39 am »
Hello,
I have installed Peppermint OS 9. I am trying to use Google Hangout, and nobody can hear me when I am speaking. I have tried Opera, FireFox and am currently looking at Chromium.

I had no problem using Hangout on distros prior to Ubuntu 18.04. I can run SkypeforLinux and audio works beautifully. I can hear myself when I am speaking but the other party hears nothing. I run mymicrophone through a Peavey mixer and into my desktop.

Again my problems started with distros running on Ubuntu 18.04.

Installation / Re: Help with Backgrounds
« on: March 30, 2018, 03:00:14 pm »
I found the issue!! In my setup I have been installing/restoring multiple distros and always keeping the same /home folder. In doing that something got corrupted so backgrounds (and a few other things) were not working properly., I blew away /home, did a complete reinstall, am now restoring data files, and Peppermint is playing properly! I am sorry for reporting a "non-issue". :-[

The primary monitor is 1600x900 connected via VGA. The secondary monitor is 1920x1080 connected via DVI. This setup works beautifully with other distros. I actually have a dual-boot setup with Linux Mint 18.3 on one partition and Peppermint on the other. When I first fire up Peppermint you can see the background on both displays, but then the secondary monitor immediately goes to a black background. I can still run apps on it (I am typing this in Opera running on that monitor now).

Installation / menu bar placement [SOLVED]
« on: March 28, 2018, 11:15:15 pm »
Is it possible to move the menu bar from the bottom of the screen to the top. I tried doing the Ubuntu Mate setup from the user-supplied tutorial, but it seemed to break more things than fixing them! >:(

Is there an official way of implementing a "mate style" desktop? Thanks!

Installation / Help with Backgrounds (Solved)
« on: March 28, 2018, 08:45:17 pm »
I have dual Dell monitors (a 20 inch and a 21 inch ) When I install OS 8  it displays a background on the primary monitor (the 20 inch)), but it will only display a black background on the second monitor. I can run apps on both, but I would like a background on the second monitor also. What should I do?
