Software & Applications / Re: Emulators

You should be able to find plenty of instructions for installing and setting up MAME. Honestly this forum is probably not going to be the best resource for this sort of thing, but we can certainly try to get you in the right direction.

Regarding Xbox controllers, you should be able to configure them using the same applications as in Ubuntu. If you can post a link to Xbox controller setup we can probably figure it out for you.

Installation / Re: macbook retina resolution

Just popping in to say that very high resolution screen support is not something I ever expect to see in LXDE. Being 100% realistic, with the impending switch to QT, I'll be surprised if there is any new support for anything at all in the GTK version. This is something we'll need to address for Peppermint Six.

Anyone ever tried out this super realistic texture pack? (be warned, you will need a super fast computer to use it!  ;))

I typically just stick to the default texture pack but I'll give it a spin. I've not had any issues with 128x128 or 256x256 texture packs in the past, but then my desktop is an absolute monster.

GNU/Linux Discussion / Re: Anyone tried out Tiny Core Linux?
« on: April 07, 2014, 10:08:51 am »
It's been a couple of years, but I did used to keep a TinyCore partition on an old laptop of mine just for the sake of it. It doesn't suit my personal taste of being able to get a functional, modern desktop up and running quickly but it's certainly an interesting project.

Cloud Print is included by default in Google Chrome if you want to install it. I typically go that route in order to print to my Canon photo printer which doesn't have any Linux drivers. The printer is connected to a Windows 7 machine.

Right on. Let's run with it for a few weeks and revisit it later.

I'm fairly certain MAME will run PSX games.

Such as ?

How's this?

EDIT: Actually it might make sense to make the field generic as there could be a number of forum users who primarily make use of other operating systems and simply experiment with Peppermint from time to time. For instance right now, my main laptop is running Ubuntu 13.10 and nothing else, the dev laptop is running Lubuntu 14.04 and Arch, while my desktop is running Peppermint Four and Windows 7.

This is one of the rare times where I completely agree with Canonical. Ubuntu One always struck me as too little, too late and in such a way that it wasn't really sustainable even in their core market (meaning no support for non-Ubuntu distros and a lot of people do a lot of distro hopping). Anyway, I wish Canonical well in their endeavors.

Very snazzy. I'm going to have to fight the urge to put something random/unrelated in that field.

I was looking for a simple way to install the same sw configuration on all our PCs.
Thank you.

Let us know how it ends up working for you.

One minor note: if you do create a custom Peppermint ISO image I ask that you not distribute it publicly unless you remove all Peppermint related branding. But for distribution within your organization, by all means go ahead.

Also, should reinstalling Chromium not suffice, please provide a screenshot of the anomaly so that we can get a better idea of what we're looking at.

Yes, there is still an autostart file in /etc/xdg for lxsession to use regardless of what window manager it's using. The specific location depends on which profile you launch lxsession with.
