Software & Applications / Re: Light Firefox - wrong font color

I did it (force light theme), even if it was already set it by default - i even rebooted my laptop   :D

but I'm using Light FF, not FF, idk if this is the problem

Menu > Preferences > Firefox Themer

Make sure it's set to "Force Light Theme," not "System Default Theme."  This tool was created by PCNetSpec during P7 beta testing to solve this very issue, which has plagued Firefox users for a long time due to how FF implements GTK+ themes.

That should solve your issue.  If it does, you can ignore the auto response for this for now, unless you have a deeper issue that that.

thanks scifidude, but it didn't solve it :(

The only other option would be to use a Firefox COMPLETE theme known to work such as FT DeepDark:

I originally approached the author of FT DeepDark and asked if we could use it out of the box for Peppermint 7, but he regretfully declined :(

I will try that one or maybe I just switch back to a light theme, thanks anyway  ;)

Software & Applications / Light Firefox - wrong font color (SOLVED)
« on: October 19, 2016, 07:04:57 am »
On YouTube (and maybe other websites) search bar,  the font is white on white background --> can't see anything I type in

It happens when I use a dark theme (Dark Peppermint Theme, my favorite)

I'm aware it's not Peppermint fault, I googled a little bit and didn't find any solutions (I've already unchecked "use system colors" from Preferences > Colors")

my os: P7 64bit

Do you know any workaround to fix this issue?

General Discussion / Re: old netbook

Thank you very much for your opinion guys!

I've finally decided to go for Manjaro Netbook and I'm absolutely happy with it. I like trying out new distros, so I keep P7 on my 4gb laptop and manjaro on my older netbook.

Will see if in the long term it's a good decision...

Puppy Linux: looking like  s***, and not even responsive (that's incredible, idk why; I didn't go for Slitaz since it's packaged with tons of applications I don't need on this machine, was just looking to surf the net).

With W7 this machine was actually dead, and wasn't responding at all.

I agree with those who have suggested a ram upgrade, even though just by using Pale Moon I'm quite happy with 1gb.

General Discussion / old netbook
« on: October 08, 2016, 04:07:54 am »
Hi everybody,

I have an old netbook (acer aspire one - 32bit - 1gb RAM) running on W7 and I was wondering if P7 might give a new life to my old machine.  Should I install Peppermint or some other distro (not a fan of puppies...) ?

Any suggestions or experience on similar machines is welcomed :)

New Users / audio startup
« on: October 02, 2016, 05:11:22 am »
Every time I start my laptop I get the speakers set at the maximum volume... How can I reduce it at the startup, it's very annoying especially because I always use headphones and I tend to forget they are set to 100%.

Pulse Audio Mixer > Volume Control > All streams: here  I get "LADSPA stream on Built-in audio analog stereo" always set to 100% at the startup, no matter I reset it to lower levels

I open the preferences panel from the terminal (plank --preferences) but no change is applied whatever theme I select (GTK+, Matte, Transparent) - nothing happens even after logging out or restarting the laptop.

New Users / web apps (SOLVED)
« on: August 21, 2016, 01:30:28 am »
Hello everyone,

can't figure out how to open Google Drive and the other web apps from the menu. Nothing happens by clicking on them, it just leaves the menu but the browser won't open the webpage.

I know how to use Ice and it works fine, but  what about all these links to web apps, like in Menu > Office, should I edit something to run them?

My system: Peppermint 7 - 64bit, Chromium as default browser (I removed FF)
