Hardware / projector screen (SOLVED)
« on: November 21, 2016, 03:47:04 pm »
Today I tried to connect my laptop to a projector screen (fully working, hdmi wire connection) but it didn't work, no signal at all. How can I fix this issue?

General Discussion / Re: Why I Love PeppermintOS 7
« on: November 14, 2016, 11:55:20 am »

That's all I can think of right now. How about you?

well said: fast, superstable, low memory usage. All reasons why I'm afraid to move to other distros :D I try other distros on virtual machine just because some of them look more polished, though P7 is cool in its minimal elegance.

I'm still a Linux newbie but that's how I found out about P7 and stick to it. My first distro was Lubuntu, got rid of it after few hours: for my laptop it was absolutely broken crap, though on Virtual Box it was fully working. So I looked on youtube for equally lightweight alternatives, and I found stunning how P7 looks.

Last but not least: PCNetSpec quality support and the Peppermint community. Wish only more people would start discussions on the forum where to learn from.  8)

GNU/Linux Discussion / advice for Android mirror
« on: November 11, 2016, 10:45:12 am »
Already tried the chrome app Vysor for mirroring my android phone on my P7  laptop, but it doesn't work (black screen, android unavailable bug).

Anyone here knowing reliable applications to display my android screen? Preferably desktop applications.

Hi Joseph, yes I saw that and it looked quite beautiful, shame that their owner/project died, was very interesting imho to see Amiga alive again

Thanks for the clear explanation!

Just have another dummy question :D

Has Peppermint anything of different from Ubuntu regarding the updating process?

I mean, as a lazy noob I just like the idea of being stable for 6 months without any os update (it's fine for me just updating programs) - as I understand Ubuntu never updates any key stuff for 6 months, while other distros like Arch get constantly updated  (I'm trying manjaro netbook on my netbook and I'm getting tired to see 90/100 updates every week  ??? ). That's the idea I have about Ubuntu updates, and therefore I wasn't expecting any kernel updates on Peppermint but I may be totally wrong since it's everything new for me and I'm learning :)

Is it always safe to update Peppermint?

Last time I updated it I saw some update called "linux-image-extra" or something like that, is it something related to kernel and critical to update?

I'm using my 4gb amd  just for programming purposes and when I installed P7 it was a pain to replace the right library to run Android Studio emulators. I finally have the system I never accomplished to build with Windows  (Android Studio too slow and native emulators impossible to run), so I don't want to end up losing the perfect balance I have now.

To sum up, I'd like to know if there's any stability risk associated to updates.

General Discussion / Re: Whats YOUR favorite PM7 Window Theme?
« on: October 21, 2016, 06:24:28 am »
widget and window: Peppermint Dark 7 Red, the best one imo
icon: Numix (I love it). I like Gnome too but unfortunately it's missing few icons like additional drivers and google apps

Done, it works from the menu too, I'd marked it as solved bit early though  :D

Great help from this forum, which is the reason Peppermint is the best distro :D

Does:
Code: [Select]
env GTK_THEME=Peppermix-Light-7 /usr/local/lib/light/lightstart Firefox Light with the light theme ?

yes it does, now it's fixed  8)
