I got it and as I am building it in VirtualBox it took forever to activate it. So if anyone else is wanting to know? Open dconf editor search for gtk scrolling and make sure it's enabled. So going to mark as solved.

The magic of using Peppermint is loading Mr Greaves's magic up everyday.
I am making a 20.04 Xfce OS called Chab OS and for the life of me cannot workout how to get the Whisker menu scroll bar to fade out, like it does here in Peppermint. I'm using the latest Whisker Menu here in Peppermint, as well as on my own OS, the 2.4.6 version. Have scoured the forum and internet and it seems to me that Mark added this himself, somehow? Does anyone here know how? I could have sworn it had something to do with GTK scrolling, but I think I am looking in the wrong place? Anyone that can help would be much appreciated as this is really a nice touch Mark done. Many thanks.  ;D

Or to be on the safe side at least 64GB or higher and if you can get a Sandisk one as they never fail, or they haven't for me.  ;)

I always, always download Steam from the Steam website, as it's a Deb file and after installing it with Gdebi installer, it automatically updates after you've clicked the icon under

Menu/Games It's not that I don't trust Synaptic, just that I know I'm getting it straight from the horses mouth so to speak.  :D

General Discussion / Re: Dropbox Notice (31-May-2020)
« on: June 16, 2020, 06:58:07 pm »
Had a weird thing happen today...

I've had a *free* Dropbox account for years. Today, I opened my PM file manager, and a notice from Dropbox popped up. It said that Dropbox wasn't linked to this (my primary machine) any longer.

Long story short, Dropbox decided that I could only have three (3) machines linked to my *free* account.

My choices were, upgrade my *free* account to a premium account, or deselect 17 devices. I chose the latter  ;D

Anybody else had this happen?

I pay £95.00 pound a year for 2TB of storage with Dropbox, which from 16:00 hours yesterday 16th June 2020 (For future readers why I put the year.) comes to $119.13 Cents a year. I hardly use it, but peace of mind knowing it is there for me to use whenever I need to.  ;D

Very nice machine. I have always had problems with vibration where track pads are concerned, so always use a USB mouse and turn track pad off. On my ASUS Tuf Gaming Laptop, vibration is a pain and end up with the cursor going back and re writing over words I have already typed. Switching off the track pad and it's buttons is the only way to overcome this problem. Laptops are good, but I prefer the big roller ball mouse days, that was housed in a lift type technology. You would open the lid of your Laptop and up came the roller ball. I wonder if they are still accessible?  :-\

Understandable.   :)

I can almost understand the reason(s) for running containers on servers; but, Snap is one of the first things I purge on a desktop install.

Same here I get rid of Flatpak too. I just don't understand Snaps or Flatpaks, when Deb files are faster and more secure.  ;D

I suspect someone is going to package Chromium as a deb because it's open source and it's also available as a binary on the project website.

Yep nothing wrong with Deb files whatsoever, they are smaller and more reliable. I don't use Chromium anymore, Firefox does everything I need and now that SSD's are so cheap, it opens just as if not quicker than chromium, or Chrome. Plus the advantage of Firefox is more security which is left to the users discretion. In Chromium and Chrome forever needing to delete your history, plus they are holding to Google too. I don't like the way Google takes over everything, where as Duck Duck Go don't take anything from you. I love using Perknh's homepage too, that PCNetSpec made him.,5610.msg92099.html#msg92099

Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done, it seems it is setup to this as default and the only way to not have the brackets at all is either have icons only, or only show minimized windows only, but that still does not get rid of the brackets.  :-\ Puzzled I be.

I don't know about your machine but on mine, the square brackets indicate windows that have been minimized.  To get rid of the brackets, just restore the window.

Thanks. Knew that too ;) But I don't want them to show at all. Is that possible?

I don't think it is possible Johan, I will see if there is a way of changing it in the script to window buttons. Bare with me I'll be back.

Software & Applications / Re: Xfce4 panel weather plugin
« on: May 29, 2020, 08:41:20 am »
I've never got it to work properly, as it does not have Isle of Wight on it at all. Ever since Linux began the Isle of Wight has never been there in the weather app, not even Gnome's one. My brother got it working with Southampton weather station, but then he got conflicting reports because of the three mile stretch of water between the Isle of Wight and mainland Britain. That little puddle between us makes a huge difference on weather patterns.  :(

Not that big of a deal. Just want to know why they are there and if there is a possibility to remove them ;)

Hi Johan, I always go into window button properties and change it to icons only. You can still see what it is you have open by hovering over the icon and tool tip will tell you what it is? To activate Icons only on your panel, you probably know how to anyway but for those who don't.
There are two ways to get to windows properties, first Right Click Three Little Lines On Panel just off of movie player icon on the right. Might take a while to find?

Code: [Select]
Left Click on properties
Should look like this.

How I have mine setup.

Hope this helps to get rid of those brackets. Though I never do with the theme I use and have never seen them before.  ;)

Left click the images above as they seem to not display properly until you do.
Code: [Select]
The other way to get into window properties is left clicking panel highlight panel in the list and choose panel preferences

Code: [Select]
Click on Items Tab

Items list that's on your panel come up after clicking it,
Code: [Select]
highlight Window Buttons

The fifth icon on the right of the window is edit, so left click it.
