Hardware / Re: New SSD Slower Than Mechanical Drive
« on: November 22, 2019, 10:13:51 am »
Thanks for all the ideas.  It turns out the UUID for the swap partition was not the same as blkid.  I changed that and it made a huge difference.  :)  I think I'm ok now.  For what it's worth, Clonezilla was used to clone the drive.  This is an old Lenovo x130e laptop that only has Sata II so it will never be as fast as Sata III but at least it's a bit faster.  Before I made this change it took over a minute for the bar to go across on the starting screen.  Now the starting screen flies by.   ;D

windrose,

I believe Peppermint 10 is based on Ubuntu Bionic Beaver.  Xenial is an older release of Ubuntu which I believe Peppermint 8 was based on.  I have no idea what Linux Mint is based on.  Suggest you switch to Peppermint 10 and problem solved.  :)

Not sure what happened, but when I install the office pack from the command line it installs with no problems at all.  Apparently, the issue is just with the software manager install.  :-\

Thanks for your help.  I'll just avoid the the Photography Pack for now.

10
The Pepperment Office Pack give an error: An Unhandlable error occurred.  There seems to be a programming error in the apt daemon.  Under details if shows Freedesktop.dbus. error.noreply: Did not receive a reply.

On the Photography Pack the error indicates that Package Dependencies cannot be resolved.  The error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable.  Under details it says Peppermint-photography-pack: Depends: Darktable but it is not going to be installed.

This is on a new install of Peppermint 10 32 bit on an Acer Aspire One AOA-150.

Thanks.
