Hi, thank you all for your help. I have performed a clean install of P10 and everything works fine.

Hi Slim.Fatz, I have upgraded to P10 and then to P10 Respin. Still the same problem. Apparently I switched to the HWE:

Code: [Select]
mefibo@mefibo-HP-Stream-Notebook-PC-11 ~ $ sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-18.04 xserver-xorg-hwe-18.04
[sudo] wachtwoord voor mefibo:
Pakketlijsten worden ingelezen... Klaar
Boom van vereisten wordt opgebouwd
De statusinformatie wordt gelezen... Klaar
mefibo@mefibo-HP-Stream-Notebook-PC-11 ~ $

And:

Code: [Select]
mefibo@mefibo-HP-Stream-Notebook-PC-11 ~ $ uname -a
Linux mefibo-HP-Stream-Notebook-PC-11 5.3.0-28-generic #30~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 17 06:14:09 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Now additionally, bluetooth does not work; I´ve had that problem before when I moved to the HWE.

So it seems, just a clean install is the only thing left to do.

I have tried the latest P10 Live distro; everything works. The wifi-connection as well as bluetooth (I had specific problems with that).
So I would like to try upgrading from P9 to P10 rather than perform a clean install of P10 in order to save installed programs and my wifi printer. Is that possible?

Hi, for your curiosity I´ve tried the 4.18.0.25 kernel; the...21 kernel is not available on my system. Did not work. So I think it´s save to say the kernel version is not the problem. What is, I have really no idea. I hope someone has.

uname -a gives:

Code: [Select]
mefibo@mefibo-HP-Stream-Notebook-PC-11 ~ $ uname -a
Linux mefibo-HP-Stream-Notebook-PC-11 5.3.0-28-generic #30~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 17 06:14:09 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Hi, Just the opposite; with no firewall I can´t get a working connection. Hence I had to reinstall via usb-stick. I have to change the firewall settings from off to on to establish a working WiFi-connection. I´ve booted several previous kernels; did not work. I have not tried a fresh Peppermint 10 yet due to specific hardware-problems handled in ¨New Users¨. But I will try a new Live USB one of these days.
For what it´s worth; I was at the 5.0.0.x kernel. The problem manifested after a update to the 5.3.0.xx. But however; when I boot a previous kernel now it does not solve the problem.

Hi alynur, unfortunately that did not help. I´ve removed the firewall from the system then I don´t have a connection at all. Re-installed it with a usb-stick. Nothing changed, but I can connect by switching to active.

Generally, at startup the firewall is inactive; when I switch to active the connection is established. Is there a way to activate the firewall automatically while booting?

The hosts-file is the same:

Removing Advert-Blocker did not solve the problem, unfortunately.

The update was automatically. As mentioned in my first post, booting a earlier kernel did not work. I booted ¨back¨ till 5.0.0.36.

Hi Slim.Fatz,
Thanks for the tip. I´ve posted the problem under ´Networking´ with the requested outputs.
So I´ll mark this one as ´Solved´.

Networking / Wifi won´t work after update - firewall problem (SOLVED)
« on: January 28, 2020, 05:06:03 am »
After a update a few weeks ago - including a kernel-update - the following strange thing occurs. The wifi-connection is established. But no page will load; nor can I get updates. When I switch the firewall on and off a few times, the connection becomes normal and pages load. I have made no changes at all before this; the firewall was even switched off.
Looking around on the forum I´ve seen a possible solution is to remove advert blocker and delete hosts-file in /etc. There are the following files: hosts, hosts.allow and hosts.deny. Should I remove them all?
Booting a previous kernel did not solve the problem; nor changing the IPv6 settings.
Here are the requested outputs, made before establishing the connection:

If I need to produce the requested outputs involving wireless networking problems please let me know. I´ll have to save them as text-files and post them later because my netbook doesn´t have a LAN-port.

Just one more question, should I not do anything to prevent kernel-updates; since they seem to have been automatically installed/updated along with other automatic updates?
