« on: December 24, 2019, 06:43:44 pm »
Hello all, is there anyway I can get the propitiatory drivers for my system?
CPU~Quad core AMD A10-5745M APU with Radeon HD Graphics (-MCP-) speed/max~1790/2100 MHz Kernel~4.15.0-72-generic x86_64 Up~3:03 Mem~3153.8/5165.7MB HDD~500.1GB(31.3% used) Procs~212 Client~Shell inxi~2.3.56

I am getting more into Steam enabled games that install but will not run. Like War Robots, World of Tanks, and Mechwarrier online will probably be the same...

Sure is a pain in the arse that Taptalk won't let me edit my own titles.

I didn't see that as I say but the code in the Ubuntu ticket did it.

Hardware / K3b and Brasero no permission to cdrecord (Solved)
« on: December 23, 2019, 09:33:22 pm »
I have both K3b and Brasero failing for permissions issues. The user does have permission to the device and K3b says that the issue can be fixed in K3b settings. But I see nothing in there about it. In fact I don't see anything in k3b settings to change.

P.s. This is my Touchsmart M6 running Peppermint 9 with kernel 4.15.0-72

The CDr that I am using is set up as with a USB hard drive converter. I have not had any problems with this set up before so long as the drive is recognized So both CDr apps are seeing it. K3b givers permissions error messages and Brasero simply stalls.

That did it. It seems sorta random and I think that from the liberties that I am pulling down and that my update is not yet finished, it might be more about sqlite libraries.

What do you mean by

Synaptic is calling for kernel version 4.15.0-72.81

I mean that Synaptic has that kernel ready for me to download and it is listed as a level 5 necessity.

and if it was working previously, have youu tried choosing to boot the previous kernel (at the GRUB screen) ?

I did revert back to kernel 4.15.0-58-generic
The game will not load as it always has. OAd gives the same driver message, that warns of slow performance.
A part from the video driver issue, my Steam is way out of date too. I need to get under some wifi to update that.

I don't know what that might mean here.

Software & Applications / Strike Suit Zero (via Steam) crashes (Solved)
« on: December 07, 2019, 09:07:35 pm »
This is my main laptop that is in my profile. The Touchsmart M6 with AMD CPU and GPU on the same die.

I have been playing SSZ for some time and now it seems after a recent upgrade to libraries like systemd and kernel updates that SSZ fails to load. This is the only game that I am able to play via Steam right now so I can't say if the others are working.

I do have Linux native games installed and I do see where 0AD is advising use of another video driver. I have llvmpipe installed. I have never yet been able to get any drivers from "Additional Drivers".

So I don't know of any alternatives. I was half way through writing this post when I thought to search the forums for references to this driver.

Regards.

The ever fewer users is sad. I love Firefox and I depend heavily on my synced tabs and history.

The requested output.
cat /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
Code: [Select]

greeter-hide-users=true
I would like to keep the guest AND keep my own user unlisted.

I should not have mentioned that here. I meant that you gave me good code to do what I was trying to do here

I didn't do anything with it on this issue or it probably would have worked as intended.

Software & Applications / Login screen (SOLVED)
« on: June 23, 2019, 10:19:53 pm »
Hello all. I am on my HP Touchsmart M6 which is running Peppermint 9. The kernel is 4.15.0.15-generic x86_64

Anyway, I decided to hide the list of users on the login screen via the "Login Screen" item in the Menu. Like I have done in the past, but then I did it from the CLI.

Now I can't really login as my user. I tried typing my own password unprompted but I still got the guest session.

I was able to drop to a shell and login as my user and install xinit to start X from there.

I have my Desktop up and running from the startx command, with the Terminal window open.

But that's pretty much all I can do besides opening applications from the Terminal.

Any help to get my fully equipped desktop back would be great.

Regards
