I've switched to Linux Mint XFCE and don't have the issues there despite it also using xfce-power-manager and no xscreensaver, it does lock on lid close and no loss off mouse pointer.

I removed xscreensaver after it did not work with xfce4-power-manager, I added it back again now to try it with mate-power-manager but it still does not lock and my mouse pointer vanishes again now every time I close the screen.

Ok so switching to the mate power manager fixes loses the mouse pointer after a suspend but I still can't get it to lock when I close the lid.

Any suggestions as to how to not lose the cursor after closing the lid?

Thanks for the reply, I went for the latter option using i3lock but it still does not lock, and my cursor still disappears.

Ok I solved the leftover menu entries but I found another issue that I can't figure out. The laptop does not lock on suspend or on lid close despite the settings set to do just that, the only way I can lock the device is using ctrl + alt + l
I don't lose the cursor after locking like this only when I close the lid.

Sorry just a couple more questions:

Why is the version of node js in the repos at 8.10 when current lts is 10.15 and current 11.11?
Also npm version is at 3.5.2 when latest is 6.9?

New Users / New to Peppermint have a couple of issues

Hi I just installed Peppermint 9 on my HP Pavillion G6 after the trackpad stopped working correctly after a recent update on Manjaro. I couldn't resolve the trackpad issue so decided to try Peppermint.
I'ts all working pretty well and was a painless install but I am having a couple of issues I hope someone can help with?

After the laptop suspends after closing the lid and is opened again I lose the mouse pointer, it's still there as I can see when it hovers over menu items or icons with the hover effect but I can't see the pointer and have to reboot via terminal.

The other issue is I installed Visual Studio Code from the repos but the version in the repos had a lot of issues (mainly with shell detection). So I downloaded the .deb from the website which is working as expected. I did uninstall the version from the repos first but the menu entry is still there for it. So how do I remove the menu entry? Should it not be removed when the package is uninstalled?

Thanks in advance

Will
