Thanks for that PCNetSpec, I will use those adjustments if the font size issue becomes a problem again. At the moment font size is acceptable using customize look and feel,  and overall the system is  running well from a USB. ;D

Thanks for the above suggestions. I have been playing with customize look and feel and the font settings and I can see some of the menu headings are possible to enlarge  but others not -  (this has helped but the effect is very gradual) . So for example in Nemo the title of the folder 'home' is very small but 'file, edit etc' can be increased?  This is not a huge problem. I wondered if this font size issue is why the new dpi utility was added to PM 10? I can see this issue has affected other distros.

Does it work if you run:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install yad
first ?

if not, do you get any error from running:
Code: [Select]
/usr/share/peppermint-font-dpi-settings/peppermint-font-dpi-settings
?

dpi Gui  did not run after:sudo apt-get install yad

Output from running /usr/share/peppermint-font-dpi-settings/peppermint-font-dpi-settings

File "/usr/share/peppermint-font-dpi-settings/peppermint-font-dpi-settings", line 10
    path = f'{os.getenv("HOME")}/.config/lxsession/Peppermint/desktop.conf'

New Users / dpi settings utility [SOLVED]
« on: July 09, 2019, 09:18:25 am »
Hello

I note in PM10 there is a dpi settings utility. On my PM desktop the menu labels and tray icons are very small on my laptop screen. Is it possible to use the dpi settings on PM 8. I cannot increase the size of the above items simply by increasing the resolution. I have tried already.

New Users / Re: PM 8 live usb persistence hanging

Will do. I am just about to  full install a USB with your PM10.

I can enter the casper files (and others) of the corrupted USB. Is it possible to recover the  personal configurations of the programs  and system files I had there and replace the new files  on the PM10 with these? (assuming I load the PM10 with all the programs I had).   I would like to keep the original settings as much as possible.

New Users / PM 8 live usb persistence hanging solved
« on: July 04, 2019, 05:32:53 am »
Hello

I  have been running Pm 8 on a live usb  with persistence for many months and it is working well. However, I was installing some new software via terminal ( a software manager)  and had to reboot. Unfortunately, the live PM8 now hangs on starting up screen. (I can start up on the try PM without install option).

Any ideas how to make persistence option load?

Thanks for the replies to all. That has helped me plan future installs.

This is off topic but:

1   Can i create a password for a live ISO with persistence?

2 When dual installing if I choose the encryption option does it encrypt just the PM install or the whole HD or SDD  it is installed on?

Thanks for the replies. It looks like I cannot carry over my bookmarks and browsing history etc whilst doing an install to my HD. Thanks for the suggestion - I am not sure a system like Cubic will allow the above - it seems to allow selection of software but maybe not personal data. Amongst my previous posts I was looking  mainly at custom partitioning but I think it was beyond me unfortunately and now will use dual installs. My use of persistence with Peppermint 8 and trial of non-persistence pm9 has been very useful and I am still happy with it. PM is very stable and over time, because I can use  persistence,  I can carry out basic tasks and see how this OS performs in everyday use. I have already dual installed PM on a small capacity notebook with good results.

New Users / Installing from live usb (SOLVED)
« on: April 27, 2019, 10:27:56 pm »
This might seem a silly question. If I fully install PM8 or 9 from a live usb with persistence onto my HD -  will the personal data on the persistence part of the usb also be installed? ie will my browser and saved bookmarks etc  be retained on the new installation? I guess not but I would appreciate a definitive answer. Thanks

I must try PM 9 on a very fast flash card - it's  even quite fast on the old usb 2 type cards.

Hi - thanks for the replies.

The time and date has now re-adjusted itself after coming out of suspend/hibernation and rebooting.

How do I change time in Peppermint 19?

I am using live ISO with persistence. The automatic time change does not seem to work.
