Hardware / battery status icon shows wrong value
« on: Today at 03:00:56 am »
hello all.
the battery status icon beneath the screen shows me 3/4 full but when i get the  cursor over it gives met 38%.
so often the  shutdown at 20 % surprises me.
i do get a popup when battery is low, but sometime i have to leave the laptop for a short while and find it shutdown when i come back ::)
what could be wrong?

Hardware / Re: Ricoh R5C822 SD card drive does not work (solved)
« on: February 28, 2020, 01:50:01 pm »
Is the card formatted? Is there supposed to be anything on it?
yes it has the files to boot the peppermint 10 iso

but writing this i thought, try a sd card out of a digital camera and i did.
i could find and mount it  with the filemanager.
so it seems to work.
again tried some other sd cards with different linux distro's and now they show  :o
could it be that some off the updates that came the last week could have fixed it.

but now i can only say it is solved, but don't know how ;)

i installed Gparted and the SD card as: /dev/mmcblk0  and showed up in the file manager now as cdrom
fstab gave me this
Code: [Select]
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
# <file system> <mount point>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
# / was on /dev/sda6 during installation

What are you running Peppermint on? / Re: Dell Latitude E6400

for the thought, you don't have to always start a new thread:
i did a peppebrmint 10 install on a E6400 and works fine.
(fast because of the older 7200rpm hd,)
no problems found then maybe wenn booting, in the start screen , there is a 2.5 cm line at the top with the grey sparkle background, the rest stays black until the login screen appears.

but i would not call that a problem

not a problem anymore but if you have the same trouble, a solution

after a password change in gmail i could not connect with gmail anymore and got a authentication failure wrong password ore account name.
so every time the program started i was redirected to a popup screen were i could login and state that the app (thunderbird) i was using had the rights to do so

this was the situation: peppermint 10 linux, thunderbird mail
after several tries i deleted the account in thunderbird, tried to install that again, but even thought i get rerouted to the gmail server to check if this device/app may change things, i get the authorization failure .
when i log in with firefox, no problem at all, so my password is correct.
my motorola phone has no problems after changing password
installed thunderbird again, no luck.
then i found this on a forum and it worked

set the Google imap account to ssl/tsl "normal password" after turning on Google's "allow less secure apps's" setting.

somehow google finds Thunderbird not save enough, duhhh :o

Hardware / Re: can i adjust the sensitivity off the touchpad?

al work t and with the last Xinput command i got
Code: [Select]
Synaptics Finger (273):	50, 80, 257

so i am good? because the first shows (273) and not the (294) in your post.

i would gladly  make it permanent

Dell Latitude 'E' Series
but don't buy the 1 usb models, one thinks it will work out, but i miss a second one with my 6320.
second, i had a vinyl like surface surrounding the touchpad, palmrest. sticky not fine surface and scraped it all of with a razorblade.
does not look pretty, but feels much better

ah, i will try that to.
just fun to see that these oldies can be made very useful again.
i could think that some could use them for internet banking alone.
could not be safer i think

it makes it better, have to try and work with it more but it seems to have a good influence.

i am back again with this question
the 2,5 second no touchpad while typing works.
but the sensitivity of the touchpad is really bad.

so is there another way to tackle that?
when my finger ore thumb are just above the touchpad the cursor is moving.
clean't the surface with a cleaner, but that did not do the trick.
in the peppermint setting acceleration and threshold are on 0

again a successful installation, and this time a netbook
Acer Aspire One D250 KAV60 with a Peppermint 10 32 bits installation
touchpad workt out off the box, just like wifi connection.

if there was a thing it is that some windows open up larger than the screen
this happens with installation so you don't see the accept ore further button, ore after installation can't see the red X for closing a window/app
as portable writer with open office it works great
Acer Aspire One D250-1165 features the following specifications:

    Operating System: Genuine Windows XP
Processor: Intel Atom N270 Processor 1.60GHz
    Memory: 1GB DDR2 SDRAM (533MHz)
Internal Storage: 160GB 5400 rpm SATA HDD
    Display: 10.1-inch diagonal WSVGA+ (1024600)
    Graphics: Intel GMA 950
    Wireless: 54g Wi-Fi (802.11b/g)
    Expansion: 5-in-1 media card slot
Ports and connectors: (3) USB 2.0 ports, VGA OUT, power connector, RJ-45/Ethernet (10/100), stereo headphone/line out, stereo microphone in, 0.3 megapixel (VGA) webcam
    Dimensions (H x W x D): 1 x 10.2 x 7.2 inches (including feet)
Weight: 2.4 lbs (not including weight of AC adapter).
    Power: 3-cell Lithium-Ion battery (2200mAh, 25Wh)

Installation / Re: where did my batterie status icon go?
« on: October 12, 2019, 01:50:18 am »
that gives me this as result

Code: [Select]
root      1175  0.0  0.2 322628  8880 ?        Ssl  07:39   0:00 /usr/lib/upower/upowerd

and because i could not let it go wanted to find the program that i deleted.
i found that this was not installed: xfce4-battery-plugin
installed it and it is back ;-)
