 8) i started using peppermint 5 when it was first released. I enjoyed peppermint very much but switched to linux mint for a while ended up not enjoying that  nearly as much. As a musician I tried ubuntu studio to attempt to record some music, also wasn't impressed. Here i am back at peppermint using the newest edition and im liking it so far.

I have a few questions however:
what version of ubuntu is this based on?
and is it possible to use the ICE app to open
with firefox? i thought i read that it was but so far
im unable to get any urls to work using firefox.

other than that so far so good!

its getting stuck here Fetched 101 MB in 21s (4,707 kB/s)
Extracting templates from packages: 100%
(Reading database ... 730613 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack .../masalla-icon-theme_1%3a0.7~trusty~NoobsLab.com_all.deb ...
Unpacking masalla-icon-theme (1:0.7~trusty~NoobsLab.com) over (1:0.3~trusty~NoobsLab.com) ...

i  dont want this icon set either and ask mint updater not to update that.
anyway tried to do the fulll distro upgrade but its stuck at the poiont it was before and last time
it was stuck for hours. i suppose i need to remove that one thing than try again? i am running on a
working ethernet also and now  the track pad no longer works now.

is it possible to connect this laptop to my peppermint one and transfer internet that way?
sorry never did anything with Ethernet before.
Not that I know of.  The ethernet cable is really easy.  You just plug one end into your router and the other end into your machine.  That's it, Peppermint Five should now be automatically connected  ;).

id like to still be able to use the wifi will this and running an update bring back the wifi? if not im going to have to do a fresh install I don't wanna rely on having to keep it plugged in to use it.

im not sure if we can or not we just moved into a new apartment and have new internet service there is a lot of cables and im unsure which one is which. I do have an Ethernet cable but I need to look where to connect it to /from never did that before anything I should look for to be able to do it.

The only thing I can think of is when it was performing an update one of them was for the wifi and stopped midstream and its not recognizing it...I tried to check in bios settings and nothing seemed off to me. I don't know what else it could be. I was going to do a refresh install but I lost the disc I had made. Id prefer to salvage my set up on peppermint 5 if I can if not..i suppose that's my only choice :(

Have you tried turning off hardware acceleration in Chrome?  That was always the cause of the Chrome Store crashing on my older hardware.  Not ideal for Netflix (to have hardware acceleration turned off) but it might pinpoint the problem at least.

aactually thanks i tried it and it actually works for netflix :) still crashes on the chrome store but now i can use netflix
thanks!!!!!!

ya that doesnt seem to help at all :( i guess im stuck with the crappy netflix test top which looks choppy glitches and freezes

:'( so since netflix decide to revamp their website (no idea why it was fine before) now when i view a video it crashes the video on my laptop
and only hear sound and a black screen. This happened with the chrome store too in the past but i was able to downgrade chromium and it solved that problem
the problem here is if i downgrade chrome i wouldn't be able to use HTML5 netflix anyway through chrome. So now it looks like for this laptop im forced to use
the choppy netflix desktop unless anyone else can think of a solution.

Well I am not using the distro. To set it up like I wanted it would take lots of time and I have my distro all set up. See you Bye

bye

what a lazy mofo seems like he doesn't want to put in any effort to learn and upkeep and set up
well doesn't seem like he should be using linux at all than! seems like the mind set of a windows user to me.
good riddance as far as im concerned.

I've spent so much time in Peppermix-Dark, the other themes now hurt my eyes like opening the curtains in the morning, and accidentally looking directly at the sun  :o
a dark theme plus redshift equals easy eyes all the time.
