OK...i now have a good one for ya...just did 2 new installs of peppermint on previous win 10 systems...(i am now up to at last i can remember 73 installs of peppermint at this time)(all of the linux mint installs i previously did, i re-installed peppermint)...gave them the same 2 browsers i have...slimjet (flash is "161") and chromium (flash is still 137)...as you might know the chromium is my problem on my daily driver of getting "161" adobe flash to work on my chromium browser...on both new installs...it is there (both versions of flash on both new installs show "161' flash installs)...go back to my main everyday driver,...go to my synaptic...make it run identical...will not happen...both new installs shows chromium running "161" flash...on mine?...doesnt matter what i do including reboots etc...stilll stuck at "137"...what am i doing wrong?...if not wrong, re-install only option?...i would rather not re-install but can do...DAMIEN

hi guys...this espn caught my interest and though i dont use firefox, i do use slimjet and chromium, and as PCNetSpec and i both know, my slimjet is the "161" version of flash and the chromium browser is "137"...both are the most up to date for its browser version...however, i get this message from the espn player in both browsers

"You do not have the correct Flash plugin installed. Get Flash Now"

needless to say, i always ignore the flash warnings because i know better...and yes the espn player works for me no problem in both browsers...DAMIEN

hey pc...what the hell are you still doing up knowing it is at 4 in the morning in old blighty...lol...lol...do you have a wife?...do you have a real life other than peppermint, or your business near bodmin within the cornwall environ ...or the internet site you also run in old blighty...lol...yes i monitor that as well...but that site being UK only, ive not signed on to help there if i ever could be of help...since it seems UK only...is this exceptable or should i refrain?...DAMIEN

ok...i dunno either ..i just ran it again...here is what it says...copy and paste..."You have version 28,0,0,161 installed"...i hesitate to run what you say...not because i dont trust you but...but ...but...it makes no sense of the results i have verses what is said is current version...137... versus what you have as current BETA version...152...the info you have...????????...im sucking my thumb in wonder....dont know what ive got here....?????....until we both have a solid answer...forgive me if i dont run what you asked in the meanwhile...i ran the third one...this is what i got...

...by the way...i know i may be running things in an unorthodox way of what is in norms of the peppermint operating systems...but i dont think i should be in any real error either...if you could really see how my computers ive set up with peppermint actually run...i think you would be in awe...everything and i mean everything runs faster than you can blink an eye...truly its really faster than an eye blink...im totally astounded myself at how im able to make peppermint sit up, bark, meow, or otherwise...im really good with Linux Mint...but i cant believe the results ive been able to achieve with peppermint...literally i only have to think before i click and it is there instantaneously...really super quick...did i make modifications?...yea i did...can i tell ya exactly what i did?...no not really because every modification started, but no means ended with initial install...and by the way...adobe flash is not showing as a beta version but as a solid release version...DAMIEN

ps...does it help to know that even though retired...etc...that i still do some sort of IT work for US military intelligence, with helping their IT dept in missile tech etc. though not very major?...and as a side line...(maybe because im just a cocky s.o.b), i invite anyone to try to break my systems...lol...lol...by the way...has not happened yet...lol...DAMIEN

ok...im confused...in my slimjet browser it says im running..."You have version 28,0,0,161 installed...in the chromium browser it says..."you have version 28.0.0.137 installed"...i have followed the previous posted instructions after purging the gtk flash plugin...why is it then that the adobe site says the 137 version is the current one yet my slimjet chromium based browser is running a newer 161 thats not even listed as the current one by adobe...and how would i get the chromium browser to recognize the newest flash?...totally confused with this conundrum...DAMIEN

Version 17.0.8.0 (based on Chromium 63.0.3239.52) (Official Build) (64-bit)...this is my slimjet version which is up to date

Version 64.0.3282.119 (Official Build) Built on Ubuntu , running on Peppermint 8 (64-bit)...this is my chromium browser which is up to date...note that the chromium browser build version is more up to date than the slimjet yet is running (in my opinion) an outdated flash

hi guys...just be aware of this web app, ext or whatever FF is calling it now...it comes with a fake FF manual update tab that dumps a nice little cryptominer into your browser...DAMIEN

https://fossbytes.com/image-previwer-firefox-extension-in-browser-crypto-miner/

Firefox add-on has been spotted that injects an in-browser miner. Detected by Bleeepingcomputer’s Lawrence Abrams, this extension is called Image Previewer. To infect the systems, the addon spreads via malicious websites that pretend to deliver a manual Firefox update.

i have no idea if this will help you at all...[wait for PCNetSpec, pin or other moderator or trusted user to weigh in first before doing this]...i have bootup-manager installed on my system because i was having problems on previous mint installation...(im now all peppermint on my systems)...i too had login screen coming up at different times even though i wanted direct login...(also have this bootup-manager on my peppermints as well...sudo apt-get install bum...once installed i run it and unclick "lightdm" on startup...as well as other things i do not need at startup...that was the end of my problem...as a side note i also unclicked all samba entries, as well as cups, avahi daemons etc. etc. and all works fine here including printers and other peripherals... the only things i have enabled at startup are...rsyslog...uuidd...thermald...hddtemp...ntp...and...irqbalance...just those 7 items only and everything just works when i need it...again wait for others to weigh in here since my usage may be way different than yours
