Good choice!  I got one of those for my Uncle.  Runs Peppermint like a dream and is super fast.  I recently upgraded to a E7440 i7.  It is a little overkill but hey...I'm worth it!

I have one pin.
I got it when they had their kickstarter.  I build a case for it out of Lego's  :D
It has 2GB RAM and the Alwinner 64-bit processor.
I got it initially to play around with for a media pc.  I installed Android on it and used Kodi to connect to my NAS.  It worked great. Also had the Netflix app.  I eventually reconfigured it with the Q4OS image with the XFCE desktop.  It ran the best with this one.  It is now in full family production attached to a Dell touch screen monitor that serves as our Calendar/Weather/xscreensaver picture slide show.
Been running great for the past 5 months or so.

Support was shaky at the beginning but the forums have improved.

GNU/Linux Discussion / Re: The popularity of Peppermint...

I found this OS through DistroWatch as well.  I am very leery of the download numbers really being an indicator of how popular it is though.  I think the community here is a better indication of real users.

Does that mean I should stop trying to get Edge to work on my Peppermint OS?  Hmmm......

We made the list!

Decent listing of OS's and small write up on them.  Thought it was worth posting here.

Don't know if you guys keep up with this

Sad to hear about him and give him the best.
I'm glad the project is moving on though.  It has a place in the Linux Community.

New Users / Re: Aptik or Aptik-gtx?

Aptik will install the cli version of the program.  Aptik-qtx will install the GUI.  I usually install both as it is easier to check boxes  :D

This worked on my Dell Latitude 3150 running Peppermint 8.  Thanks Mark!!!

Hardware / Re: Should I replace this hard drive?

As long as you have backups and don't put critical data on it....why replace it?  It was meant to be used.  What model drive is it out of curiosity?

General Discussion / Re: SNAP News not so good

Check this article out

Basically the programs did mine cryptocurrency when the app was launched but Canonical pulled it from the Snap Store because the author of the application did not disclose it.

Canonical also said that mining cryptocurrency is not illegal, nor unethical, so the only thing the publisher did wrong is not to inform users about his snap apps mining for cryptocurrency in the background.
