Hardware / Re: art tablets in Peppermint 8

I will have to check when I get a chance to do another test of version 8. Version 7 works so well that I am happy to run with it.

Kudos - from a fellow D430 user! :D

I have debated looking into using an SSD - but have other production machines that need upgrading first. That said I hike a lot with this rugged little laptop which I purchased used. Interesting that such an old computer can still function so well - and even have a relevant role! Sure there are newer faster lightweights but if you look carefully you can find one of thesein great shape for $50 or so give or take depending on if it has a hard drive etc.

Hardware / art tablets in Peppermint 8

Hello - to the point: tried a test run of Peppermint 8. I am a digital artist and use art tablets. I get no pressure reading from any of my tablets (a Huion p608n, a Monoprice, and a Ugee M708). All worked fine under Peppermint 7 even when I used the terminal to install the latest versions of Mypaint, and Inkscape.

Just curious as to the possible reason ...maybe the kernel used doesn't have the alternative art tablet driver packages included?

Anyway just dropped back to version 7

General Discussion / XFCE Menu Lag, Fluxbox, Enlightenmeint
« on: April 24, 2017, 11:10:41 am »
Hello, I am an off and on user of Peppermint - one of those distro hoppers constantly looking to see what everyone is doing.

I have liked peppermint and have been testing windows managers. I have liked Enlightenment from using Bodhi, and have loaded it in Mageia 5 along with Fluxbox. I stumbled accross Fluxbox when I tried AntiX (which is now one of my go to distros).

One of the reasons for checking in to this forum is that I stumbled across an old forum post when googling to see if anyone has tried installing a windows manager in Peppermint. The thread regarded the XFCE menu and a lag when the system was started - the first time you activate the menu. The thread author stated he would see a 5 second lag on first usage. I noticed this too when using Peppermint - but also in Mint running XFCE. In all other distros I have tested in XFCE the menu has no lag on first activation. Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone know the reason for this?

The second reason for checking into this forum is to see if anyone has tried installing Enlightenment or Fluxbox in Peppermint. I just like these two windows managers and the light ram usage.
