Announcements / Re: Peppermint 9 Released .. go get it :)
« on: October 07, 2018, 07:34:03 am »
big thanks to the "pepp-team"!  ;)

for myself, i don't know...
maybe i am a little bit disappointed...  :o

i love PM8 respin. it runs great, has for me no problems, and it looks and feels very nice...
the out-of-the-box-experience is awesome...

it is hard and sad to say, but PM9 is not near as good...
i really miss the "peppermix-theme" (the new one, based on arc, makes it all bigger, and sized it all up) and some new "Ray Bilcliff's"-wallpaper...
i know it is just the look & feel, but it is somewhere important to me...
anyway, thats just me. in the end of the day you can customized it to the way you want...
i have to tweak more settings to make PM9 working great like PM8 does (for example automount)...
maybe it (PM9) needs a little more time to me. don't know if i should upgrade my PM8 respin...

anyway, again: great job! please keep up the good work!

now, after five weeks on PM9, i give PM9 a 8/10...
its not bad, its because there are many good distros out there...
it works fine on my laptop...
my desktop runs PM8 respin...
would i change, no...
my PM8 respin works, looks and feels beautiful  (out-of-the-box it is all in there)...

like in my first impression, i have to tweak more to get it run the way i prefer...
if i had some wishes for PM9 respin, so please:

- bring the automount back (peppermint-volman), or at least into the repos...
- a nice-looking dark-theme. the peppermix-theme on PM7/8 is awesome. sadly it doesn't work on PM9. the new PM9-dark-themes based on arc looks boring to me. nothing special. something dark based on numix, or adapta would be nice. like the beautiful peppermix-icons, they are unique. adapta-theme in the repos would be nice too...
-font configuration. i notice that on many others distros too. especially in firefox for example. what i do, i copy the /etc/fonts -folder from PM8 to PM9. this looks so much better...

that would be great...

i read this:
https://itsfoss.com/fix-brightness-ubuntu-1310/
https://itsfoss.com/ubuntu-mint-brightness-settings/ (< ppa)
https://unlockforus.com/remember-screen-brightness-settings-in-linux-mint-17-2-rafaela/ (< downloadlink)

for now i found a good workaround...
at my system /etc/rc.local does not exist...
so i create there the script-file...

Code: [Select]
#!/bin/sh -e
echo 0 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
exit 0

now it boots always up at level 0...
indeed it still does not remember a new brightness-change...
but this works for me...

yes...
but even if it is disabled, it makes no difference...

after a search, i notice it must be a ubuntu-bug...
there is a fix, add a ppa and install a file (sysvinit-backlight)...

i am not a fan of something like that...
hope there is a simple file/setting which must be modified...

on a new start it always boots up with/on level 1...

i have a small issue...
my beautiful pepp9 on my laptop does not remember the brightness setting...
the level is 0 to 9...
i always had to set it new after each boot...  :(
it boots always up at level 1...
i prefer level 0...
is there a simple way to fix it?

yes, @PCNetSpec...
just copy and paste it from my PM8 drive...
but in the end, i don't like it...
(EDIT: i donīt try the new one (@your link) for now, maybe later...)

currently i made/run this one here:

i put the adapta-theme on it, change some colours there and modify the peppermix-icons (custum-folders, volume-status) and some other stuff...
for now its o.k. ...

indeed, i try it (copy the peppermix-theme to PM9)...
looks horrible...

currently the peppermint-grey-dark-theme looks o.k. to me...
normally i prefer blue, but the blue one ist too much blue...  :P
maybe i have to tweak the colours, to my preferences...

yes, you're right @PCNetSpec...
then you hear they don't like the colorful minimize-, maximize- and close-buttons...
i like it...
but hey, if you don't like it, so go and change it...

I might be wrong but, try looking at intl.locale.requested.
See, https://solydxk.com/firefox-59-changed-localization-configuration/

New Users / Firefox 59 language/locale (SOLVED)
« on: March 25, 2018, 07:45:24 am »
hi peppermintinos,

since i update firefox to the 59 version the language-pack, or (and) the locale-settings doesn't work...
i read about the issue and about some workarounds about it, but none of them works her for me...
is there something i can do, get it to work again?

EDIT:
if i download the new version from the mozilla-website = that works...
should i copy that folder to my exist firefox-folder, or replace that folder?

EDIT 2:
i check this at my linux-mint-partition. there it works without issues...
