Ok so I've done some research and it seems that nvidia-prime doesn't work with 4.4 kernels (?) so switching to peppermint 8 did the trick !

Thanks a lot for your help

So I've tried running nvidia-xconfig and this is what i've got:

Code: [Select]
tran@tran-OMEN-by-HP-Laptop ~ $ sudo /usr/lib/nvidia-375/bin/nvidia-xconfig

WARNING: Unable to locate/open X configuration file.

Package xorg-server was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `xorg-server.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'xorg-server' found
New X configuration file written to '/etc/X11/xorg.conf'

Hi,

I think I've previously installed them via the Additional Drivers panel but in order to follow @PCNetSpec 's tutorial for using Nvidia Prime I've reinstalled them manually.

Thanks a lot for all your help !

Thanks for your answer !

Well the problem is I tried to run a game and the graphic rendering was very poor while my laptop is supposed to be for gaming

So my guess is it's only using the Intel Card by default instead of the Nvidia one but i don't know how to change that ?

Hi there,

I've installed Peppermint 7 x64 on a new laptop a month ago and it seems I had a problem with the driver installation.

Here's the results for inxi -Fz:

Software & Applications / compiz broke peppermint-logout (SOLVED)
« on: December 12, 2016, 06:52:05 pm »
Hi !

I tried installing compiz but it was in conflict with the current window manager and it eventually broke my whisker menu, so after removing it from my system using sudo apt-get purge compiz, I tried reconfiguring my whisker menu and surprise! the logout button didn't work.

I verified it, and the button execute the peppermint-logout command, so do my power off button and the control+alt+del combinaison. None of them worked.
So I tried running the command on the terminal and all it returns is :
Code: [Select]
 ~ $ peppermint-logout
quit

Launching quit manager

But nothing else happens.

An interesting thing is that when I use another user on this computer, the peppermint-logout command does prompt the logout window, so I have no idea where the problem is coming from, if someone can help me please?  :-\

lxsession-logout does work and prompt a logout window on my main user though, so for now I'll only change the command for the different buttons, but I liked the customized window that showed when running peppermint-logout

thanks !
