New Users / Re: Scrollbars in Firefox, Peppermint 5

No, you don't get a scrollbar at the bottom, the window seems be drawn as if the side scrollbar isn't there.

Shrinking the page size is a pretty good workaround, though, thanks for thinking of it. Oddly enough, if you shrink the page and then enlarge it again then you get a scrollbar at the bottom.  :-\

New Users / Scrollbars in Firefox, Peppermint 5

My Mum is generally very happy using P5 on her old XP machine, but has pointed out one problem with the scrollbars - they cover up the last half centimetre or so on the right hand side of a webpage, as if it is going underneath them. (She doesn't have a wide-screen monitor, which adds to the problem.)

Is there any thing we can do to stop this happening? Thank you for any help you can give us.

Hardware / Re: Connecting Android Tablet

Thank you for the suggestions. Airdroid is a good app for occasional file transfer, but unless you have the paid version, the amount of data you can move at once is limited - not good for filling up my new 64Gb memory card. :-)

PCNetSpec - I'm sorry, I should have done more exploring before posting. I've been able to connect another Android 4.4.2 tablet, made by Samsung, to Peppermint 5 both in the past, and currently, but my new Asus tablet won't connect. Having done some more reading, it seems as if it's not a Peppermint problem, but something to do with this particular model of tablet.

Hardware / Connecting Android Tablet

I'm running Peppermint 5 on a laptop, and I'm trying to connect my Android tablet (running 4.4.2). I'm sure that when I tried it in the past it just worked, but now the machine refused to acknowledge that the tablet is there. There's some connection happening, because the tablet is charging from the USB, but it won't connect as a drive.

Do you have any suggestions that might help it work? Thank you.

I do this regularly, as an inveterate distro-hopper, and the answer is more or less as PCNetSpec says.

I don't bother with the hidden directory, but I make sure that I've copied my Dropbox folder and all its contents to the new installation, to where I want it to be kept. (So in your home folder by default, or wherever else you usually put it). Then I start Dropbox for the first time, log in to the set up dialog and then it will ask you if you want the files included in your new Dropbox. It will index them again, but won't need to upload or download them.

New Users / Re: Setting Key Binding

Thank you very much for your help, I'll look in to what I can do with that file.

(I use F12 for a pop-up terminal on various different desktops, and I've not had a problem with it anywhere else, but I'll bear your warning in mind.)

New Users / Setting Key Binding (Solved by editing .conf file)
« on: August 24, 2014, 06:34:34 am »
I'm trying to set a key-binding to work for F12, and it's not working in the Peppermint control centre - it seems to insist that I have to use Shift/Ctrl/Alt with it. Am I missing something obvious? There seem to be some other key-bindings that work with just a function key.

Thank you for any help you can give me.
