General Discussion / Re: Next Peppermint without Mark
« on: May 05, 2020, 12:00:54 pm »
Thank you for the response Spence. I haven’t seen anything recently about the status of Peppermint OS. I hope Mark’s family and all the peppermint team members and their families are doing well.

General Discussion / Next Peppermint without Mark
« on: May 04, 2020, 07:13:56 pm »
Hi all. I meant to post when Mark passed. I had just  a little interaction with him. It was sad to hear of his passing. I know usually not much is posted about the next version of Peppermint until it comes out. This year is a little different. Is the next version of Peppermint on the normal schedule? Are there any plans to give some details about the future road map of Peppermint? I hope the greatness of this distro continues on in the memory of Mark. Thanks

Does everything look fine?  I went ahead and un-installed Thunderbird and re-installed it.  It is the current version now.  I didn't want to do that but it seemed like it would be the easiest thing to do.  Hopefully I won't run into this issue again.  I haven't run into any issues before updating Ubuntu or any Ubuntu based distros.  I've had a couple of issues with Manjaro.  It seems like that is not uncommon with Arch from what I read.  Thanks again for the help.  The Peppermint community rocks.

Software & Applications / Thunderbird update error [Solved]
« on: July 09, 2017, 10:50:41 am »
Hi everybody,

I am receiving the following error when I try to update Thunderbird via the Update Manager:

W: Failed to fetch http://mirror.lstn.net/ubuntu/pool/main/t/thunderbird/thunderbird_52.2.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64.deb
  404  Not Found [IP: 2607:ff68:1:4c::100 80]

I get the same error message when I try via Synaptic.  Could somebody please help?  Everything else will update.  I checked.  I do not have this problem in Ubuntu 17.04.

Thanks

Hey everybody.  Has anybody tried the Zorin OS 12 Lite Beta?  It looks like they are following in the footsteps of Peppermint OS.  It is LXDE with XFCE.  I have only been using Linux a little over a year now.  I see that Zorin OS 9 Lite used LXDE only.  I don't think they could find a better OS to emulate.   :D  I'm loving Peppermint OS 8.  Keep up the great work team.

Hi,

I love Peppermint OS 7.  :) The community is great.  I received some very good help on the forums.  Is there any information on the next version of Peppermint OS?  I'm still enjoying 7.  LXQt is not very good yet so I'm curious what's in store for 8.  Keep up the great work.

Software & Applications / Docky will not run (Solved)
« on: August 14, 2016, 06:23:58 pm »
Hi.  I am running Peppermint OS 7.  I have a problem with Docky.

I had Docky running with no problem on my PC.  Something happened at some point and Docky will not run.  I see a flicker at the bottom of the screen after clicking on it to open.  That's it.  It does not show that it is running in the Task Manager.  I am running under an admin ID.  I know shouldn't.  I created a new standard ID and Docky works fine on it.  I added a bunch of wallpapers to the Peppermint wallpaper folder.  I see only a dead icon when I go to select a wallpaper.  The wallpaper displays with out a problem.  The preview for the wallpapers show fine on the standard ID.  Something may be wrong with the ID.

I followed PCNetSpec's directions (on this site, http://linuxforums.org.uk/index.php?topic=11192.0) on how to remove Docky completely and rebooted before I reinstalled it.  It still will not run on the admin ID.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling through Software Manager before that. Hi PCNetSpec if you're reading this.  You've been a good help to me before.   :D

I hope somebody can help me.  Is there a way to, I don't know, reset an ID?  Thanks in advance for the help.

You are on to it Murraymint.  :)  It only shows Headphones (unplugged).  How do I get it to recognize the speakers in the monitor via HDMI?

Installation / Re: Peppermint 7 sound not working
« on: July 21, 2016, 10:20:56 pm »
Thanks AndyInMokum.  I wonder if an update broke the sound.  I checked in Ubuntu and it no longer has sound.  I booted from my flash drive that I installed Ubuntu from.  It plays sound.  I have four distros on this PC and none of them play sound.  All are Ubuntu based distros.

I checked to make sure nothing is wrong with the monitor.  I plugged in my Roku 3 into the monitor.  I had sound no problem.  I plugged the Brix into the HDMI port (the monitor has 2) that the Roku was plugged into.  No sound.  This is so frustrating. >:(

Installation / Re: Restore Peppermint 7 Grub screen
« on: July 21, 2016, 10:09:50 pm »
I have my Peppermint Grub screen back!  Thanks for the help everybody.  PCNetSpec, I found the image but didn't know how to paste into the Grub folder in Ubuntu.  I finally thought to Google how to open up Nautilus as root.

Thank you everybody for the help.  I'm learning as much as I can.  I am trying a lot of distros in part to know what is out there to be able to help some people I know switch.  Some since Microsoft will be dropping Vista support next year.  One because Windows 10 is dog slow on the cheap PC she bought.  Peppermint OS 7 is perfect for it.  I would like to convert as many spyware users (Windows 10) users as possible.
