General Discussion / Re: drivers of graphic card ? line in chromium

I use Chrome for browsing and had the same problem, in chrome I disabled smooth scrolling .

In Chrome you type in the address bar,  chrome://flags

Search for smooth scrolling and disable. Not sure if this will work in chromium.

Fyi, Rise of the tomb raider runs great on peppermint 8.5.  :D

When you first install the game it gives warnings about pep not being compatible , I just ignored the warnings.
I am using HWE which is same specs as ubuntu 17.10 also using a ppa for the newest nvidia drivers.

I assume your buying another 120gb ssd?

What I use is the disks program, its in pep by default. You will need a 128gb usb thumb drive.

Boot into your desktop with the pep live usb, run the disks program highlight your 120gb ssd, click the gears icon a box will show asking where to save image.

I save my images to my home server, never tried to a usb stick should work.

Boot your new laptop with pep live usb,  run the disks program highlight your 120gb ssd, click the gears icon a box will show asking where to restore image.

Disclaimer this works for me your mileage may vary  ;)

Can you go in your bios and disable on board lan , it might force peppermint to use your Pci Ethernet card instead?

Before you try this wait until you hear more from PCNetSpec he might have more options for you.

Have you tried another PCI slot on your motherboard, does your motherboard have its own Ethernet port?

What type of computer.

Once again the linux community over reacting, this non personal information Ubuntu collects could help linux in general, could benefit everyone.

I'm all for privacy, but linux needs hard numbers to grow. I swear seems like linux community like's to shot its self in the foot.  >:(

« on: January 01, 2018, 05:20:04 pm »
I use back in time, It has has restore points too. I back up /home and / it also back's up your  hidden files in your home directory.
You can use a external hdd or a usb stick, I use a 128g stick for restore points.

Once a month I do a full system backup with gnome disks make a image file. I back up to my home server takes about 8hrs to do a 111 gig image.

This is a nifty utility to have https://utappia.org/2017/11/11/ucaresystem-core-4-2-3-one-installer-for-ubuntu-and-debian-based-distributions/

Ucare has a lot of commands I used to run manually. The best part of Ucare is it removes old kernels and keeps current kernel plus one previous kernel.
I checked how many linux kernels I had installed on my laptop had like 8 kernel's installed, peppermint doesn't remove old kernels  when new one's are installed.

Maybe in a future release  peppermint could do this automatically, install update to kernel keep current and one previous.

Hi all,

I ran shields up on my vpn, I have the same ports open also. (I use PIA)

I asked my son about the open ports and he said what your seeing is the ports are open on the server not my actual computer.
I haven't researched this so I'll take my son's word for it.
