New Users / Menulibre and Peppermint
« on: December 12, 2017, 09:45:20 pm »
Hi.  Fresh install of Peppermint 8, 64-bit, fully updated.

I need to add entries to the application menu.  With other distros, I use menulibre and it works wonderfully.  But, in the past, menulibre has crashed the Peppermint menu.  It's all gone.

How can I add entries to the menu?  I start several applications through a shell scrip.

Thanks.

Thanks so much.  Getting better.  I'm a senior, and falls really take their toll on us.  Thanks again.

Sorry to be so long getting back on this.  Had a bad fall, been laid up.  Just followed all the instructions, and I'm in business!  Thanks so much for all your good help.  It is truly appreciated.

Thanks.  I'll give it  a try.  If it doesn't work, I'll try another bible program that doesn't require Java.  I don't like it as much as I like Bible Desktop, but it will suffice.

I appreciate the help.

I just downloaded another Java-based app.  Same problem.

Oy.

Sorry, didn't answer the other part of the question.  I haven't yet tried to run other Java programs.  I'll get a few and give them a try.

Here's the link to the instructions:

I have the latest version of Bible Desktop.  Don't know what to do beyond that.

Thanks.

I should add that I've installed java, according to the post in this forum, and also icedtea-plugin, and rebooted.  Same problem.

Thanks.

Software & Applications / [SOLVED] Help with Java app that won't run
« on: June 25, 2016, 03:47:56 am »
I'm trying to run an app called Bible Desktop.  It requires Java to run.  I've installed openjdk -- my usual approach when running Java apps.  I'm using the new Peppermint 7, just downloaded and installed.

I can't figure out how to attach the error file, so I've uploaded it to dropbox.  Here's the link:

Can someone help me to get beyond this problem?

Thanks.

New Users / Renewing a requent for weather applet
« on: February 17, 2016, 09:36:29 pm »
I know it's been discussed before, but is there any progress on making a weather applet for the LXDE desktop?  I sorely miss it.  I do love Peppermint -- it just works!  Used to use an XFCE desktop environment.  I dearly, dearly miss the XFCE weather applet.  It would be grand if someone knew how to convert that applet to the LXDE environment.

New Users / Mapping the keyboard
« on: February 15, 2016, 01:59:34 am »
Hi.  Just installed Peppermint 6.  Very nice.  Haven't looked at it in a long time.  It really performs!

Question: I'm accustomed to tapping the Windows key and getting the Menu in the lower left corner to pop up.  I really like keeping my hands on the keyboard and not using the mouse.  It's easy to define this in XFCE, but I can't figure out how to do it in LXDE.  Can someone help?  Thanks.
