It's a Dell Studio Laptop... http://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php/topic,712.msg6025.html#msg6025

My bad. A user error. It was a function+F6 key that turns it on/off.

Could anyone suggest how to get the keyboard back-lighting to work?

After researching on the web, and further understanding how alsamixer works, I think I fixed it when I disabled 'Auto-Mut'. Thank-you!

Hardware / No sound from headphones

No sound from headphones. Sound from speaker is working. I have a dual boot and headphones works fine in Win7, just checked.

Everything appears to work. The headphone device description in the drop down box changes from unplugged to plugged-in as I do so. Everything looks the same as when I hear sound on the speakers.

This is what I am seeing in the Pulse Audio Volume Control application:

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Here's some configuration info, if that would help:

« on: July 24, 2014, 06:07:23 pm »
Dell Studio 1747, Dual Boot/Dual Drive, Windows 7 and Peppermint 5

I had some trouble loading on top of Peppermint 4. My Grub was hosed. After multiple tries using Ubuntu's Boot Repair Disk, I finally got things working again.

I just finished customizing my destop. I like it more than I liked P4 and that's saying something. Great work guys!

When changing cursor themes, The default cursor type (white arrow black outline) changes to the new theme (oxygen yellow) when I hover over a link. I never get the default point 'type' that is part of the new theme. Any suggestions?

New Users / Windowless panel on Task Bar (Window List) [Solved]
« on: May 03, 2014, 10:45:39 am »
I recently lost the logout icon on the taskbar. I found a topic on the forum for adding it back. That worked great. But now when I'm starting up, I always have a icon on my my task bar titled 'panel'. It has no 'window' attached to it. Raise/Restore/Maximize/Iconify do nothing. All I can do is close it. Any ideas how to identify what it is and prevent it from showing/starting?
