That does look nice. I recently re-installed peppermint as well after an issue I was having with kdenlive (which I never really got resolved). Anyway, I was playing around with a purple theme that looks similar to this. I would have posted it but I change things up so often that I would flood this thread with  too many posts I'm afraid.  :P

Hi miker107, nice job  ;).  The Veyron certainly describes Peppermint well :)!!

I thought so too. She's a beaut, and fast, just like Peppermint OS.  :)

Hey guys, so I got board and had a little more fun.

Bugatti veyron wallpaper:
http://img.wallpapergang.com/325processed/bugatti%20veyron%20Red%20and%20Black%20sport%20wallpapers.jpg

Theme:
Sticking with the Peppermix-Dark theme, haven't found anything I liked better really.

Icons:
Numix icon theme from Noobslab: http://www.noobslab.com/2014/04/install-numix-icon-packs-in-ubuntulinux.html

Conky:
I'm using Conky-lua 2011 next generation/Ubuntu conky from the Conky Manger. I modified the icon in the Ubuntu version of the Conky by placing the official peppermint icon.png inside the following folder: /home/mike/.conky/Conky-lua 2011 next generation/Ubuntu. Next, I opened the concyrc file located in that same folder, scrolled down to the text that read
${image ./logo.png -p 165,10 -s 35x35}

And changed that line to read
${image ./logo_candy.png -p 165,10 -s 35x35}

I then refreshed the conky to replace the Ununtu logo with the peppermint one and there you have it. Enjoy

Looks good ! The orange-black theme seems to be " la mode du jour" these days. Very popular. Small note about the conky. It's a matter of taste, but I found the minutes readout overlapping the month annoying. You can place it using the voffset command for the minutes in the hermoso_rc file. I brought it down to clear the month.

Thanks for the tip. I do find that rather annoying as well.

LOL .. that's brilliant :D

Yea, I'm a one man peppermint advertisement at my office.  ;D
That's awesome  ;D!  How do your colleagues react?  Do they ask what the desktop's all about?  When you tell 'em, do they show any interest?  Or do they treat you like a nut job hiding in the corner of the office ;D?  Both are good 'cause you've got their attention  ;)!!

Well, I work for an oilfield company, and the down hole acquisition systems that receive and record the data from the tools down hole are on linux machines, so we have about 8 to 10 pc's in the office that are running Fedora. My coworkers are familiar with linux as a host system for the acquisition software, but that's about as for as it gets. I tell them about using linux at home for every day use, but they don't get it.

Try some of these for a Halloweeeeny look

Superb Desktop by the way... :)

Well, it's interesting, but I wasn't even thinking of the holiday when I put this together believe it or not. What a coincidence.

Hi miker107, that desktop is an absolute cracker - very autumnal  8)!!!

If you ever need to test how bad your Peppermint addiction is.  Use it exclusively for one month.  Then try any other distro as a Live session.  You now start counting the minutes it takes, before you start using Peppermint again!  The lower the number, the worse your addiction is  :D!!

Well, it's pretty bad. I have peppermint wallpaper on my work monitors (Windows 7).  :D

Hi miker

that looks stunning there's no doubt about it orange against a dark or even semi dark background looks amazing

Well done

Graeme

Thank you Graeme, I must say, I really like the Ambiance Dark theme. The orange outline around items such as the volume control that drops down when you click on the volume button in the panel for example, really pop and kind of glow against dark backgrounds.

I think I have a peppermint addiction.

OK, here is the current setup with the changes I mentioned in my previous post. I think I'll be keeping it like this for a while.

This is real nice, very easy on the eyes, and I like that color scheme. Real sharp there XavyAir.

Thanks everyone, trying to stay with a peppermint theme as much as possible. I have changed it a bit since. I wound up moving my dock to the bottom and changed the icon theme to one of the Rave X Colors Icons Suite, particularly the grey: http://www.noobslab.com/2015/07/rave-x-colors-icons-suite-updated-for.html . I'll have to post it in here when I get home from work. I think it looks quite nice with the Rave X  icons.

Oh, and I also changed the panel from red to match the system color. Got tired of looking at that red bar at the top of the screen.

Just playing around with gimp this afternoon and decided to create something.

Original photo is from deviantart: http://pre07.deviantart.net/2dfd/th/pre/i/2011/022/f/7/peppermint_fleur_by_tylerxy-d37t2gw.jpg
I added the peppermint official logo in gimp and there you have it.

Still using the Numix Circle icons along with plank for icon dock.
Conky manager installed as well as the extra theme pack. All instructions for installing both are here: http://www.teejeetech.in/p/conky-manager.html

Thanks and enjoy,
Mike
