Hardware / washed out laptop screen [SORTED]
« on: September 22, 2018, 08:22:41 am »
ive just fitted a new screen to my lenovo thinkpad e530 the old one having been broken for the last couple of years and ive been using a external monitor , so i have forgotten what the original laptop screen looked like , this has coincided with installing peppemint 9 , now the new  laptop screen looks terrible it has a slight colour cast and lacks contrast and the colour is very weak  ,its ok for basic tasks but will be useless for photo editing or even viewing photos , now i still have the external monitor which i can use and gives excellent colours with peppermint 9  ,so this is not the end of the world

, but it would  be nice to get the laptop screen looking better ..  ive installed redshift and it just changes the colour cast , and the gui does not seem to work in peppermint .
it could be that the new screen is not very good ,
is there any way of improving  adjusting the colour /contrast  of the laptop screen

Hardware / using a monitor screen with a laptop
« on: October 03, 2015, 08:46:52 am »
my laptop a lenovo e530 has developed a screen fault , a horizontal row of dead pixels right across the screen about 3 inches from the bottom , this appears to be a hardware problem ,the rest of the laptop is still ok and i cannot afford a new one at the moment ,so i am considering a external monitor screen instead . what i would like to do is switch off the laptop screen and use the monitor screen only ,  does anyone know if this is possible , and how easy would it be to get this to work  as most monitors seem to mention windows drivers ect ,  i do not want to buy a monitor screen to find it will not work with peppermint  as i could put that money towards a new laptop
