Hardware / [solved]No sound after kernel update
« on: March 18, 2019, 04:20:00 am »
I've installed kernel 4.18.0-16-generic rebooted my machine but now I am stuck with "Dummy Sound problem"

I tried

sudo apt-get remove --purge alsa-base
sudo apt-get remove --purge pulseaudio
sudo apt-get install alsa-base
sudo apt-get install pulseaudio
sudo alsa force-reload

Still dummy sound issue.

« on: October 02, 2016, 02:35:19 am »
What music player you are using and why ?
Here on my installation i have Pragha music player installed, the lyrics feature seems useful and it is great to manage large music collections.

User Submitted Tutorials / updating pepperflash in chromium
« on: October 26, 2015, 03:42:28 am »
when you decide to install pepperflash in chromium
sudo apt-get install pepperflashplugin-nonfree
you can control the status of the pepperflash plugin with
sudo update-pepperflashplugin-nonfree --status
when there is a newer version you can install it with
sudo update-pepperflashplugin-nonfree --install
Please note that the update server for Pepper Flash can lag behind (unfortunately it's happened before!). So to be absolutely sure that you have the latest version of Flash Player, you can  uninstall pepper flash-nonfree and then reinstall. Then you definitely have the newest Flash Player in Chromium.

How to improve font rendering in Ubuntu based distributions using the Infinality fonts.
To install, open the terminal and add the following line by line:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:no1wantdthisname/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install fontconfig-infinality

After the instalation, reboot the system. There are 2 methods to configure the fonts. For the first, add the following to the terminal:

sudo bash /etc/fonts/infinality/infctl.sh setstyle

after entering your password, select which style you wish to use.

For the second method, enter the following in the terminal:

sudo -H gedit /etc/profile.d/infinality-settings.sh

This will open the settings file with gedit. Scroll to the portion that lists the USE_STYLE. Change the USE_STYLE to the style you wish (options are listed in the file) and save the text file.
