ive wanted to do this myself with peppermint but dont know how much space a fresh install would take up, i currently use the live iso but sometimes i want to save stuff i do while on it.

There's not much point doing a full install on anything under 16GB. Depends how much space you need really.

New Users / Re: Audio-Device setting not being retained
« on: February 20, 2020, 02:57:58 pm »
I use VLC Media Player a lot. Under Windows 7 and 10 it retains the setting for Audio Device under Audio. Under Peppermint it keeps forgetting what I set it to (Built-in Audio Analogue Stereo) and defaulting to something else, so I have to reset it for every file I play and every time I load it. It runs noticeably faster than under Windows, which is nice, but it is annoying to keep having to tell it where to send its audio. :-\  Is there a way of forcing it to remember the setting?

Are you going into Preferences > Audio > Output module: ALSA audio output > Device and selecting Built-In Audio Analogue Stereo there?

I've tried using it with a headless machine too and had problems. Check out the solution proposed in the final post here: https://forums.nomachine.com/topic/resizing-of-a-headless-session

You may try to switch off your X server and let NoMachine create the virtual display for you. Switch to runlevel 3 or stop lightdm, and create a connection to that desktop. Visit this link for more information about the configuration:

I've never used it but I've had good results using NoMachine.

Yes, if you do a full install to a second USB stick, you will be able to save changes and install/update software.

You can just use the image writer in a live session of Mint, no need to install it.

You may be able to, but with Peppermint you definitely can. Just install to a USB stick as if it were a normal drive.

It's not booting from it, it's just trying to check the hardware or maybe see if there's a disc in. You could disconnect it and it might speed up boot.

Do you have a faulty DVD drive connected to the machine? Try removing it.

Boot into a live session, navigate to the partition with your Peppermint install on it, right-click on the etc folder and Open as root. Then you can find the file and edit it as root.

You'll have to explain a bit better what the problem is/what you're trying to do.

What do you mean "get into root"? What was the "required terminal command"?

But in the absence of such an image how are you going to install Peppermint or your network drivers?

Do you know you can use a hub on the OTG adapters? I know it seems like a lot of workaround but Peppermint was never designed to work on tablets and none of us had Intel tablets to test it on. If you manage to get it working it'll be more of a happy accident than a supported type of device.
