Software & Applications / Re: Peppermint 10 freezing

Does it freeze if you boot an earlier kernel ?

The font selector in applications comes as part of the current version of Gtk (it's a stock gtk dialog) .. so not much we can do about it I'm afraid.

Haven't found much of a use for slack yet.

Yup, love this forum .. keeps me sane (ish) :)

Nemo is IMHO the best file manager out there, and the two software managers were kind of forced on us because mintinstall doesn't list snaps, and gnome-software doesn't list the peppermint-pack (metapackages) ::)

But at the end of the day, defaults are just that "defaults" .. they can be changed ;)

brightside from zesty can still be installed, and appears to work

brightside for 64bit architecture

brightside for 32bit architecture

and instructions for use

as for the LXLE wallpaper changer..

Code: [Select]
gksudo xed /usr/share/applications/set_random_wallpaper.desktop
when a blank file opens, make it read
Code: [Select]
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Set Random Wallpaper
Comment=Randomly change the desktop wallpaper.
Exec=bash -c 'gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri "file://$(find ~/Pictures/Wallpapers -type f | shuf -n1)" && gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-options "zoom"'
now stick all your wallpapers in

and you can add:-

Menu > Accessories > Set Random Wallpaper

to the panel by right-clicking it and selecting "Add to Panel".

General Discussion / Re: Fellow Devs - Were you sent this new ToS?

I'm using Fx 69.0 (64-bit) right now, on a tightly wound corporate kiosk, complete with nannyware. These machines are locked-down pretty tight; and, I can see the .png on just fine :-\

I'll check it out, when I get back to the abode. I doubt if I have auth to shell into my servers from this box...  ;)

I doubt it's your end because I can see it.

Are you putting the mouse into discovery mode ?

with the mouse in discovery mode, open

Menu > Settings > Bluetooth Manager

and click the "Search" button.

Was anything discovered ?

Good to see you rickc :)

Not sure what you mean by (1), we've not changed where fonts are set :-\ .. if you run:
Code: [Select]
is the font selection not at the bottom (on the widget tab) ? .. or have you broke this somehow ?

as for overlay scrollbars...

Code: [Select]
gksudo xed /etc/environment
when the file opens, add a NEW LINE at the bottom that reads
Code: [Select]
SAVE the file and exit the text editor.

Log off/on.

Software & Applications / Re: Nemo and desktop icons
« on: September 10, 2019, 02:57:51 pm »
Okay, you need to create a .desktop file to autostart nemo-desktop at login, so run:
Code: [Select]
sudo mousepad /etc/xdg/autostart/nemo-autostart.desktop
when a blank file opens, make it read
Code: [Select]
[Desktop Entry]
Comment=Autostart the Nemo Desktop at login
AutostartCondition=GSettings org.nemo.desktop show-desktop-icons
SAVE the file and exit the text editor.

Now you need to set xfdesktop to 'never' in xfce4-session-settings .. so back in the terminal run:
Code: [Select]
select the 'Session' tab

Look for the line that currently lists

xfdesktop     Immediately

For that line (only), left-click the word "Immediately" and change it to "Never" .. then click the "Save Session" button.

Now log off and on again to test (or reboot).

Then last but not least, format your hard drive and install Peppermint instead of Debian .. we done much more work integrating Nemo than just autostarting it ;)
