Title: The question we all want to hear ...
Post by: mintspider on April 20, 2020, 07:43:00 pm
Within the last week I have had 2 friends ask me "How do I install Linux on my Windows 10 PC?"
Both pretty much asked the same question to the wording.
1 lives in England and I know him from the Oric community. Actually visited him and his partner/wife a few years back.
The other is a workmate,

For both of course I recommended Peppermint 10 Respin, giving them instructions and pointers to the excellent website tutorial.
For the workmate I went a step further and supplied him with a USB stick with the ISO pre-installed.
His laptop is a Dell so I taught him about F12 and booting into live-mode, which he is going to try out.
Told him that if he wanted help with install, which may include dual-boot with W10, to take in his laptop to work, and I can stand 6 foot away and socially distance guide him through the process.

As I said in the subject line, this is the question we all want to hear, and like busses 2 came along at once!!!  8)

would be no harm to have him do a test run on a spare system (older laptop for example) then once things are running attempt it on his main rigs. installing linux alongside win10 is easy but still..

Good job man!

Don't get me wrong: I hope those two new Linux users will "infect" some more...  :D
