Title: App Installation
Post by: ceidleigh on March 18, 2020, 04:01:06 pm
I installed an app, ExpressVPN and it works mostly intended.  Even though it works, and responds to commands entered in the command line, the app does not appear in any menus.  It therefore appears to not be installed.  It works which is fine but one other problem is that I use Google Chrome and the extension for ExpressVPN is installed but when I click on it it tells me the app is not installed and prompts me to either to log in or BUY.  Then the next step is when it says the app is not present.  I have tried removing the app, which appears to work ok, reinstall, etc. but to no avail.  The problem remains.

I am fairly new to Linux and newer to Peppermint.  Assistance would be great.  Thank ya all.

Hi ceidleigh,

How did you install this app? Is it a FlatPak or an AppImage? Did you install it using a .deb package?  :-\ This is important to know in order to help resolve your issue.  ;)

Hi ceidleigh,

PeppermintOS has the app menulibre installed by default that you can use to add your ExpressVPN to the existing menu.  ;)

Your other problems are not something that is the responsibility of PeppermintOS, but rather an issue for the creators or ExpressVPN. Does the same behavior result when using Firefox as when using Chrome? Either way, you will probably need to contact the ExpressVPN support team for resolving these other issues.

Isn't ExpressVPN a purchase only app with a free trial period?
