Title: grub problem after installing peppermint 10 respin on acer aspire one
Post by: alpage2 on January 07, 2020, 11:49:42 am
I used the USB Image Writer tool on an original Peppermint 10 (64bit) to create a usb installer for the recent peppermint 10 Respin - 32 bit version, for installing on an old acer aspire one netbook, model AOA 110-Ap, which had been able to run peppermint 9 - 32bit, just fine.

The install appeared to go fine and finished by requiring a reboot into the new system, but on rebooting, and every subsequent boot, I just get a black screen with the message:

Code: [Select]
error: symbol 'grub_file_filters_all' not found
grub rescue>

I'd be grateful for some help as to how to resolve this.
Thanks
Alan

Hi,
1) did you wipe out the HDD before installing (IMHO it is recommeded)
2) during installation, you have to check carefully where the grub will be put (/sda recommended, without any number after sda)
3) did you test the integrity of the installer file (I mean SHA etc., recommended also)
4) I suggest check the above and try once more. Let us know what happened.
