Title: Can't access VirtualBox shared folder
Post by: pstrg on December 29, 2019, 07:59:16 am
Installed Peppermint on VirtualBox (6.1.0) running on Windows 10 - very smooth.
Next, installed VirtualBox Guest Additions, so that a new folder sf_lin-win started appearing to me after reboot.
However, when I tried to make that folder the Firefox download folder I got
Error opening directory '/media/sf_lin-win': Permission denied.

p.s. Should I inform I'm a Linux newbie?

Well... solved it by myself.
For the sake of other clueless newbies like me: what I did was just to add my username to group vboxsf, which is automatically created by VirtualBox.

Code: [Select]
sudo usermod -aG vboxsf <username>
sudo reboot

Now, why on Hell (or Heaven, I'm not sure where) do Ubuntu-based distros perform so differently from one another?
What I did is not necessary on some... it's really confusing.
