Title: Strike Suit Zero (via Steam) crashes (Solved)
Post by: Brotherred on December 07, 2019, 06:07:35 pm
This is my main laptop that is in my profile. The Touchsmart M6 with AMD CPU and GPU on the same die.

I have been playing SSZ for some time and now it seems after a recent upgrade to libraries like systemd and kernel updates that SSZ fails to load. This is the only game that I am able to play via Steam right now so I can't say if the others are working.

I do have Linux native games installed and I do see where 0AD is advising use of another video driver. I have llvmpipe installed. I have never yet been able to get any drivers from "Additional Drivers".

So I don't know of any alternatives. I was half way through writing this post when I thought to search the forums for references to this driver.

Regards.

Synaptic is calling for kernel version 4.15.0-72.81

I don't know what that might mean here.

Code: [Select]
inxi -Fzand if it was working previously, have you tried choosing to boot the previous kernel (at the GRUB screen) ?

I mean that Synaptic has that kernel ready for me to download and it is listed as a level 5 necessity.

I have to do that on my laptop. I will come back to this post.

I did revert back to kernel 4.15.0-58-generic
And I game will not load as it always has. OAd gives the same driver message, that warns of slow performance.

A part from the video driver issue, my Steam is way out of date too. I need to get under some wifi to update that.

Maybe try accepting the kernel update and see if that helps.

That did it. It seems sorta random and I think that from the liberties that I am pulling down and that my update is not yet finished, it might be more about sqlite libraries.
