Title: IPhone usb tethering not working [SOLVED]
Post by: Mat361 on November 22, 2019, 06:01:19 pm
Hi everyone, I recently tried out some Linux distros and I have never had problems connecting my iPhone se for tethering via usb, I used Linux mint and Ubuntu 19.04 and lubuntu 19.04. Yesterday I installed peppermint 10 because I was curious and interested by its features.
When I tried to connect my iPhone tethering via usb nothing happened it didnít worked. I tried also to connect as a standard WiFi hotspot and there was no problem, it got connected to Internet.
So the problem is that it doesnít recognise the Ethernet via usb.
The laptop Iím using is a Samsung q310,  anyone can help me to sort this out? Iím sure is something to configure on the networking side, i have done some research but didnít found anything helpful.
Maybe it has to do something with the fast that peppermint is a light distro so it doesnít include some things pre installed on other distros.
Thanks to everyone in advance.

When you plug in your iPhone, does a message appear on the iPhone asking you if you want to accept the connection ?

Now I don't know if this is related (no longer own an iPhone so can't test), but some while ago we noticed a problem where the iPhone DCIM (camera) folder wouldn't show up when first connected .. you had to do this

Thanks rayzer :)

Can either of you say if gigolo absolutely necessary ?

The other 2 'library' type packages I could add to upcoming the Pep10 respin .. but I don't want to add gigolo as it's a GUI app and I'd have thought network-manager would have been able to do the same thing anyway (?)

[EDIT]

In fact - is the only package necessary usbmuxd ?
