Title: Anyone taking a chance on the dell xps 9380 ?
Post by: shdobxr on November 08, 2019, 08:31:50 am
I know the dell's ubuntu will load.

But wondering if anyone here got it to run and if someone was working on fingerprint sensor support?

Here's what Jason Evangelho of Forbes says about Peppermint 10:- "I'm running it on an XPS 9370 with utterly fantastic results out of the box."make up
(I realise it's not the exact model, but it might help you decide whether to give it a shot)

As for the fingerprint reader, sorry but I'm not sure anyone has managed to get this working in Linux :(

You don't have to take chances because making a USB stick on another computer and then booting (or trying to boot) will be a good enough test.  People don't have to wipe their system to test things :)

You are going to laugh, but I never really considered doing that. Call it a non-caffeinated moment shall we?

I feel stupid that I didn't give this a go. But in my defense I think this is my first wintel laptop in like 8+ years. Always had some fruit brandname.

Now linux servers, different story.

Will give USB a go here shortly.
