Title: Maybe it's just my take on things
Post by: The Omen on September 25, 2019, 04:26:02 pm
I have been observing this forum as well as others long before joining this one a few days ago.

I notice that the other forums have much more activity with many problems being expressed.

Here in the Peppermint Forums, there appears to be much less activity, making me believe i chose the best OS to run as my daily driver.

Peppermint does not appear to have as many "problems" as the others do.

To me that means a GREAT testimonial to a well thought out OS that is not near as "problem plagued" as other more "popular" and well known OS's appear to be.

GREAT WORK MARK AND TEAM.

(Is there a list of the other Team Members somewhere?)

3 cheers,--- Huzzah, Huzzah, Huzzah.

Warm Regards to all,

The Omen

Now, that was an easy question  :D
Here, https://peppermintos.com/2019/05/a-big-thank-you-to-the-peppermint-10-team/

Although, in my mind PCNetSpec does nearly all of it anyway  ;D

Thank-you pin, i've just bookmarked it in my browser for later reading since it's past my bedtime now, lol.

I really can't believe how nice and welcoming everyone has been to me here.

First time on any forum and this is unexpected.

you have all been so nice.

Regards,

The Omen

Thank you for your kind words The Omen,

It does mean a lot to us to know we are appreciated.

I also agree with Pin, that without PCNetSpec's (Mark's) leadership and guidance Peppermint would not be as good as it is.

Regards Zeb...

I have been posting on this forum on my night shifts this week and the dedication Mark puts in, he was still answering questions at 3am British Time on Wednesday Morning. He deserves an accolade or something, because no matter what the question, he will move heaven and earth to help you. Never before have I had so much fun on a forum as I do on this one. From the Dizzy egg men to the fantastic community here, this forum takes you away from  real life for a while and I absolutely love it. Not just this forum, but Peppermint OS is just so damn addictive. All the OSES I have installed over the years I have to come back to Peppermint.  ;D

Thank You Mark. :)

Have a snack or a bite of food and a couple of drinks and go to bed and get some rest / sleep. ;)

I had to look   "accolade" up  ??? because where I live we call it wine / booze / alcohol / beer so I wasn't familiar with this word.

Peppermint is damn hard to beat along with the forum and it's members and Peppermint's team members who devote their time to help us users who can be a PITA at times.  ;D

So a big Thanks to all involved.  :)

Or it could be that there are only 20 of us who use Peppermint. ;D

Some things in life are just too good to share. ;)

Omen,

The Pepp team and followers are the main reason Pepp is my distro of choice.  I often tease Mark with asking him if he ever sleeps.  I'm actually in the process of making a video about the Forum and the team.  From the get go this place has been warm and welcoming.

Welcome to the best place on the internet..........  :D

Welcome Aboard @The Omen! While I use Peppermint exclusively mostly because everthing just works, the friendliness of this forum is a bonus and a joy. While we have placeholder accounts on FB, MeWe & deh twttrs, there's no real community feeling in those places. True, we redirect folks to come here if they have tech related questions. But even so, there's no there out there

peppermints a solid distro, not unlike other distros you have to fight all the time for it to work.

I agree Peppermint is a solid Linux Distro.

I'm curious which Linux Distros do you have to fight with all the time to get to work.

Suicide Linux :))

(and possibly Arch, Gentoo, and LFS .. I guess it depends on what one considers 'fight with' as opposed to 'struggle with')

Excellent answer.

Arch Linux is tough and I'm not willing and don't want to spend hours trying to make a Linux Distro work when there are to many Linux Distros that work OOTB.

I never had much trouble from any Debian / Ubuntu based / built Linux Distros they all work well OOTB on my old desktops.

Yep I was just curious as I've only had minor issues using Linux and to me Linux is Linux just different user interfaces.

I have to say I find the simplicity of Peppermint A-OK.

openSUSE is another with one hell of a learning curve from my experience.  ???

I've become spoiled using Debian / Ubuntu base / built Linux Distros just used to them.  :)

Perhaps one day I'll become real adventurous and give Linux From Scratch a try and see how that works for me.  :-\
